The Free ManageEngine Windows Health Monitor tool helps an administrator to monitor Windows 2003, Windows 2008, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

This tool connects to the Windows servers and generates easy to visualize desktop reports. Administrator can monitor up to a maximum of 10 windows servers simultaneously.

Getting Started

ManageEngine Windows Health Monitor helps an administrator to view server resources and application information.

Administrator should add Windows server details as given.

Add Server

To add the server details, click the 'Add Server' icon and enter the following information :

  • System Name/IP
  • Domain/Workgroup
  • User Name
  • Password
  • Check the "Save as Domain Username/Password", if the domain username is being used.

We can use the domain user name/password , for adding more servers in that domain.

If Administrator selects the "Save as Domain Username/Password" then this password is stored as domain 'username' and 'password'. Later, administrator can add any other servers in the same domain using the same domain 'user name' and 'password '

Server Details View

Once server added , Tool will populate server details view

Administrator can see server resources details like CPU Utilization ,Memory Utilization ,Storage Details and status of the application running on the server, network status information.

DashBoard View

The Windows Health Monitor tool has a Dashboard view to show the top 3 servers based on the Memory utilization, CPU usage, Disk utilization. On clicking the server name in the Dashboard view , one can view the server details.

Edit Server/Edit Domain

To edit the server details, choose the "edit server" menu item by clicking the arrow in the tree view of the corresponding server. Username and Password can be modified. There is also an option to use the saved username/password of the domain.

Similarly, to edit the domain username and password, choose the "Edit Domain" by clicking the arrow in the tree view of the corresponding domain.

Delete Server/Delete Domain

To delete the server, choose the "delete server" menu item by clicking the arrow in the tree view of the corresponding server. Similarly, to delete the domain and the servers of that domain , choose the "Delete Domain" by clicking the arrow in the tree view of the corresponding domain.

Refresh Server

To know the current status of the server, choose the 'Refresh Server' menu item by clicking the arrow in the tree view of the corresponding server.

Settings Dialog

Using this tool, administrator can edit the warning and critical threshold values for Memory, Disk Space and CPU usage.

Click on the "Settings" icon to edit the threshold values:

  • CPU Warning Threshold
  • CPU Critical Threshold
  • Memory Warning Threshold
  • Memory Critical Threshold
  • Disk Space Warning Threshold
  • Disk Space Critical Threshold

The added Windows servers will be refreshed at regular interval(Refresh Interval) which is configurable.

  • Refresh Interval (in minutes)

Click the "Apply" button to save the settings.

MSSQL Server and MSExchange Server view

Separate views for MS Exchange servers and MSSQL Servers are given under Windows Network Tree view panel. Server details can be viewed by clicking the corresponding node.

Retaining Settings

The following details are saved in the disk so that the parameters can be reused when the tool is restarted :

  • ServerName
  • DomainName
  • UserName
  • Password [ Encrypted using Triple DES ] encryption standard.
  • CPU Warning threshold
  • CPU Critical threshold
  • Memory Warning threshold
  • Memory Critical threshold
  • Disk Usage Warning threshold
  • Disk Usage Critical threshold
  • Refresh Interval
