Bulk Import of Monitors (Import from CSV File)

Introduction:

This section is applicable to Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition [Probes only] and MSP Edition [Probes only].

Selecting this option, allows you to add monitors of the same type, in bulk. The format of the file should be in csv (comma separated) format. By giving all the configuration details in a .csv file, bulk import of monitors is made possible.

Note:

  • The first line of the csv file should start with # and should have the header for that particular Monitor Type.
  • You can add comments to your file if you start the line with #.
  • Please select the Monitor Type to see the format for various fields for that Monitor Type.

The following topics are explained here:

  1. Steps to Import Monitors in Bulk from CSV File

  2. Format for Bulk Import .csv file for each Monitor

1. Steps to Import Monitors in Bulk from CSV File

In order to import the monitors, in bulk, follow the steps below;

  1. Login to IT360 console with the Username and Password of an Admin user.

  2. Click the Admin tab in the header pane.

  3. Click Discover/Add under Discovery.

  4. Choose the option Import from CSV file from the Discover/Add type dropdown.

  5. Choose the option Application. Now do the following:

  1. Select a Monitor Type from the dropdown.

  2. Click on the Choose File button to upload the .csv file that has all the configuration details and from which you want the devices to be discovered and imported.
Note: This .csv file will be uploaded to the IT360 machine, in the location <Product-Home>\working\bulkadd\<particular.csv>. This file will be deleted, once the discovery for monitors is scheduled, for security reasons. The list of all monitors to be added is listed down. On clicking 'Start Discovery', all the monitors would be added to IT360.
  1. Click on the Example csv File link (under the Help Card section), to download a sample csv file, for the selected monitor type. (Refer the below example screenshot for the Servers monitor)

  1. Once you have uploaded the csv file, click Next. An 'upload success' message will be displayed along with the List of Monitors to be Added, as shown below. Click Start Discovery.

Now, all the monitors will be scheduled for Discovery. Click the View Logs link to see the progress of discovery.
