All Alarms View

This section is common to all the editions of IT360 - Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition [Both Central & Probes] and MSP Edition [Both Central & Probes].

Before you learn about the various Alarm configuration details, you need to know the following:

Alarm Configuration Details

The following steps will generate alarms and perform actions, based on your configuration. Go through the following sections, to know about the configurations;

Note: Bulk alarm Configuration is also possible.

 

What is an Alarm?

Alarm is an event that triggers an action to be notified to Network Administrators, or an event of Critical or Warning severity (or a failure event), for which a resolution has to be adopted immediately, in order to restore the service affected.

There are three severity levels for the alarms:

Alarms are generated for the following types of attributes:

  1. Availability of a Monitor. When the availability of the Monitor is down, the severity is represented as , and when it is up, the severity is represented as .

  2. Health of a Monitor.

  3. Attributes of a Monitor. alarms will be generated, if the threshold profile condition, set for these attributes, is met.

Note:

  • The availability is determined by whether the monitor is ping-able. This requires no additional configuration from the user.

  • Alarms are also generated, based on dependencies, configured to the attributes. Refer to Configuring Dependencies section, for more details.

Other Information Viewable from Alarms Page

  1. You can view all information related to All Alarms-Critical and Warning, under the Alarms tab.

The below information are available:

  1. Configured Traps: Click this tab to view all the configured traps.

  2. Unsolicited Traps: Click this tab to view all the unsolicited traps.

  3. JMX Notifications: Click this tab to view all the JMX notifications.

  4. Set as Clear: Enable the checkbox(es) beside the required monitor(s) and click this link to clear an alarm. A success message as "Alarm has been successfully Cleared!" is displayed.

  5. History Report: Enable the checkbox(es) beside the required monitor(s) and click this link to generate the history report in pdf format.

  6. Acknowledge: Enable the checkbox(es) beside the required monitor(s) and click this link. A window pops up, where you can Add Annotation.

  7. Pickup: Enable the checkbox(es) beside the required monitor(s) and click this link to pick up an alarm. A success message is displayed.

  8. Health Alarm Only: [This option is as of now hidden. You can contact it360-support@manageengine.com to enable this]

  9. Select Duration:

    You can choose to display the alarm status of the monitors beside Filter By as Last one day or Last one hour.

    1. Select Business Service:

      You can choose a specific Business Service or All Alarms.

    2. Select Monitor Type:

      You can choose a Monitor type from the available dropdown.

    3. Page Size:

      You can choose the size of the page from the available dropdown. You can also click the Next and Previous icons beside Page Size to navigate between the available pages.

Note: In the case of MSP edition (Central & Probe), you can view the Alarm details of either the individual customers or All customers, by selecting the appropriate value from the Customers dropdown.
