Bulk Configuration of Servers & Applications

Introduction

This section is common to all the editions of IT360 - Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition [Probes only] and MSP Edition [Probes only].

Using this option, you can perform the bulk administrative operations on Servers & Applications. This way of associating is helpful, when you want to add the Servers & Applications to several devices.

How to Perform Bulk Administrative operation?

  1. Login to IT360 console with the Username and Password of an Admin user.

  2. Click the Admin tab in the header pane.

  3. Click Bulk Configuration under Monitoring Configuration.

  4. Choose the Servers & Applications option. The List View is displayed, where all the available monitors are listed.

  5. Select the checkbox(s) corresponding to the monitor(s), on which you would like to perform a certain action - such as Managing / Unmanaging or Delete, etc.

  6. To perform a particular action, select the Action from the Dropdown list. This applies that Action on the selected Monitors.

  7. Also, using the Filter By option, you may apply filter, based on Monitor Types, and also apply the configuration / Actions.

List of Bulk Administrative operations Applicable on Monitors

You can perform the following Actions on the selected monitors, in bulk. First folllow the above steps 1-7 and then proceed to perform the below listed actions.

  1. Assign Custom Fields - In the pop up window displayed, assign Custom Fields in bulk to either All Monitors or Individual Monitors and click Save.

  1. Delete - A confirmation window is displayed, clicking OK deletes the selected monitors.

  2. Edit Display Names - In the pop up window displayed, edit the Display Name(s) of the selected monitor(s) and click Apply.

  3. Update IP - In the pop up window displayed, change the IP address of the selected monitors.

  1. Manage/Unmanage Monitors - In the pop up window displayed, choose the monitors that you want to monitor, or not. For license information, the count of the 'number of monitors' would be based on the number of Managed Monitors.

  2. Unmanage & Reset Status - In the pop up window displayed, you can unmanage the selected monitors, and remove all the alarms, generated previously. Data Collection does not happen, once you unmanage the monitors.

  3. Update Username/Password - Consider, you have five tomcat servers running, then you can select all the five tomcat servers from the list. Then select this option. In the pop up window displayed, you can bulk update the usernames and passwords, across monitor types. Your selection would be listed, and you can enter the Username and Password that is common across all the five tomcat servers.

  1. Update Polling Interval - In the pop up window displayed, you can bulk update the poll intervals, across monitor types.

  2. Copy and Paste Monitors - This option enables you to copy and paste the configuration of one monitor, to create new monitors of the same type. For e.g., if you want to monitor the apaches, running in 10 different servers, then you can configure the monitoring parameters of one apache in Host1 and copy those configurations to the other apaches in Host2 , Host3 ..to..Host10. On selecting the Copy and Paste option, you need to enter the host names of the servers, to which the configurations have to be pasted (The host names can be given as comma separated values). Enter the SubNet mask too.

Note:

  1. If you want to Copy and Paste the configurations of the Server monitor, then you can choose to copy the configuration of the services, running inside the Server, or only the Server configuration.

  2. Currently, we do not support the Copy and Paste function for the following monitors: Custom Monitors, Java Runtime, php, http URLs, http URL Sequence, Web Services, Web Server, JMX Application, Ping Monitor, Glassfish, Silverstream, MQ Series, Office Sharepoint.
