Add Application Monitor

This section is common to all the editions of IT360 - Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition (Probes only) and MSP Edition (Probes only).

Once a new Business Service is created, Application monitors such as WebLogic Server, JBoss Server, Tomcat Server, WebSphere Server, MySQL DB Server, Oracle DB Server, Mail Server, etc. must be created. This discovers the Monitor from the network and start collecting data for monitoring.

You have to create an application monitor to discover it from the network and monitor it. This can be done by following the options given below:

  1. All Application Monitors in a Host (All Services)

  2. A Specific Application Monitor in a Host

  3. All Application Monitors in a Network

Adding All Application Monitors in a Host (All Services)

To discover all Monitors running on a host, create them using the All Monitors option. Follow the given steps:

  1. Login to IT360 console with the Username and Password of an Admin user.

  2. Click the Admin tab in the header pane.

  3. Click Discover/Add under Discovery.

  4. Choose the option Add from the Add / Discover type dropdown and select the Application radio button.

  5. In the Add New Monitor wizard displayed, click the link of any one of the Monitors listed.

  6. Now, choose All Services from the Add Monitor of type dropdown.

  7. Enter the Display Name. This is a mandatory field.

  8. Provide the Host Name / IP Address, where the applications have to be discovered and all the applications running on this host will be discovered. You can also discover the applicationsin multiple hosts by providing the Host Name / IP Address, separated by commas.

To select the applications, follow the below procedure:

  1. Click the Admin tab in the header pane and then the Add Monitors icon.

  2. Click Template library tab at the left side panel. Click the Applications Templates  tab.

  3. In the Applications Templates wizard displayed, select the required applications.

  4. If the selected application is not running in the default port (e.g. FTP-21, Telnet-23, etc), then edit the Port number, by clicking the Edit' icon corresponding to that particular Application.

  5. Save the changes made.


  1. Enter the SubNetMask of the network. (The subnet mask determines the maximum number of hosts on a subnetwork)

  2. Click the Advanced link, if you Do not want to resolve DNS name. Select this checkbox, is you have multiple system IP addresses configured with single DNS name.

  3. Click Add Monitor(s).

Adding a Specific Application Monitor in a host

Adding any application will also automatically add that server and other applications in the default port in that server.To discover a specific Application Monitor in a host, create them by following the below steps:

  1. Login to IT360 console with the Username and Password of an Admin user.

  2. Click the Admin tab in the header pane.

  3. Click Discover/Add under Discovery.

  4. Choose the option Add from the Add / Discover type dropdown and select the Application radio button.

  5. The Add New Monitor  (Select and Configure Monitors) wizard is displayed along with the below Monitor types.

Click on the relevant link to create that monitor.
