This section is common to all the editions of IT360 - Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition (Probes only) and MSP Edition (Probes only).
IT360 accesses the remote devices, by using the protocols SNMP, WMI/Windows, or Telnet/SSH. The credentials, such as the Password / SNMP Community, Port etc., may differ for different device types. Pre-configuring a set of credentials in IT360, helps applying them to multiple devices at a time, saving a lot of manual effort.
Go to 'Admin --> Networks --> Credential Settings'.
Click on the New button, in the page displayed.
You need to enter the below details, if you click the Advanced button:
- SNMP Timeout (secs): Enter the time interval required for polling.
- SNMP Retries: Enter the number of retries required for polling.
Windows / WMI: If you select WMI as the protocol, configure the Domain Name / User Id, and the Password. Example:- TestDomain\TestUser. Also enter the Credential Name and Description.
The SNMP credentials created, is used during the initial discovery and classifications. IT360 uses these credentials to classify and add the devices into IT360.
Go to 'Admin --> Networks --> Quick Configuration Wizard'.
Select the option Associate a credential to several devices, and click Next.
All the available Credentials are listed. Select the Credential, which you want to associate to your devices.
Select the devices, to which you want to assign the credential from the column on the left and move them to the right.

You can edit/remove the existing credentials and add new ones.
Credentials can be configured using the below mentioned methods:
During the Probe startup and the Device Discovery wizard walks you through the configuration.
Navigate to Probe`s 'Admin --> Networks' and click 'Credential Settings' under 'Discovery & Configuration'.

Click 'New' in the resulting screen.
Credential Type: Select the relevant protocol (SNMP v1/v2 / SNMP v3 / Windows / Telnet/SSH).
Configure the below details, if you have chosen SNMP v1/v2 in step (i):
Name: Configure a name for the credential.
Description: Enter a brief description about the credential.
SNMP Read: Enter the SNMP Read community String with which IMS must authenticate itself to the devices.
SNMP Write: Enter the SNMP Write community String with which IMS must authenticate itself to the devices before make a write operation. (Note that this is not used anywhere in the application yet).
SNMP Port: Enter the SNMP port number.
SNMP Timeout (secs): Enter the time interval required for polling.
- SNMP Retries: Enter the number of retries required for polling.
Note: The fields 'SNMP Port', 'SNMP Timeout (secs)' and 'SNMP Retries' are displayed, only when you click the 'Advanced' button. Again on clicking the 'Basic' button, these fields will be hidden.
- Configure the below details, if you have chosen SNMP v3 in step (i):
Name: Configure a name for the credential.
Description: Enter a brief description about the credential.
UserName: Configure a User Name for the credential.
ContextName: Configure a Context Name for the credential.
Authentication Protocol: Choose an Authentication Protocol from the drop down. MD5 and SHA are the protocols available in the list.
Authentication Password: Configure an Authentication Password.
Encryption Protocol: Choose an Authentication Protocol from the drop down. DES and AES-128 are the protocols available in the list.
Encryption Password: Configure an Encryption Password.
SNMP Port: Enter the SNMP port number.
SNMP Timeout (secs): Enter the time interval required for polling.
SNMP Retries: Enter the number of retries required for polling.
Note: The fields 'SNMP Port', 'SNMP Timeout (secs)' and 'SNMP Retries' are displayed, only when you click the 'Advanced' button. Again on clicking the 'Basic' button, these fields will be hidden.
Configure the below details, if you have chosen Windows in step (i):
Name: Configure a name for the credential.
Description: Enter a brief description about the credential.
Domain Name / User Id: Configure a Domain Name / User Id for the credential, e.g., TestDomain\TestUser.
Password: Configure a Password.
Configure the below details, if you have chosen Telnet/SSH in step (i):
Name: Configure a name for the credential.
User Name: Configure a User Name for the credential.
Password: Configure a Password.
Command Prompt: Enter the command prompt value.
Login Prompt: Enter the login prompt value.
Password Prompt: Enter the password prompt value.
Port Number: Enter the port number.
- Protocol: Choose the Protocol from the frop down. Telnet and SSH are the protocols available in the list.
Note: The SNMP credentials created is used during the initial discovery and classifications. IT360 uses these credentials to classify and add the devices.
You can also use the Quick Configuration Wizard to associate a service to several devices at one go. Here are the steps:
All the available Credentials are listed. Select the Credential which you want to associate to your devices.
Select the devices to which you want to assign the credential from the column on the left and move them to the right.
Click 'Finish'.
The Credential is associated to the selected devices.
You can edit a Discovery Credential by following the below steps:
Navigate to Probe`s 'Admin --> Networks' and click 'Credential Settings' under 'Discovery & Configuration'.
Click the
icon beside the 'Credential Name' that you want to edit.
You can delete a Discovery Credential by following the below steps:
Click the Delete
icon beside the 'Credential Name' that you want to delete. The following confirmation window is displayed:

Click 'OK' to confirm deletion. The selected Credential is deleted from the list.
