This section gives an overall idea about the IPAM & SPM plug-in, with respect to the following editions of IT360 - Professional Edition, Enterprise Edition (Probes only) and MSP Edition (Probes only).
This plug-in helps you in identifying whether an IP Address is currently available or not in an Enterprise network. It periodically scans a subnet and provides the availability status of IP addresses in that subnet. By this you will able to identify whether a particular IP is reserved or available. It accepts multiple subnet inputs, which helps in scanning the entire network to get the status of the IP Addresses.
The Switch Port Mapper (SPM) assists you in detecting the switch port to which a device is connected, thus eliminating the need of manually tracing the network cables. It discovers the devices plugged into each port of a specified switch, which in turn gives you the visibility into the IP, MAC, VLAN, status and availability of ports. Since this is a real-time discovery, you can also view the operational status and speed of each port.
