Modify Computer objects in Active Directory Using CSV

This option allows you to modify multiple attributes of Active Directory computer objects in bulk. All that is required is a CSV file with the list of attribtues that you wish to modify and their new values to modify computer objects. The CSV file must contain the LDAP names of attributes as the header.

    Procedure:

Create a CSV file with the list of all the computers objects that you wish to modify, along with the corresponding attributes that have to be modified and their new values. Import this CSV file into ADManager Plus using the CSV import option to apply the new values to all the relevant attributes of the specified computers.

    Steps:

    • Click the Management tab.
    • In Computer Management, click the Modify Computers link under CSV Import.
    • In the Modify Computers using CSV page, click the Import button and select the CSV file which contains list of computers to be modified and the corresponding attributes to be updated.
The CSV file must contain the LDAP names of the attribtues as the header. Click here for a sample CSV file

    • Click the Advanced Options link and specify whether you wish to append or overwrite the values for multi-valued attributes, and clear current values or leave them untouched if the CSV file does not contain any value for an attribute.
    • Click OK to save the changes.

    Sample CSV File:

    name,description,location,sAMAccountName$

    computer1,Accounts Team Distribution Group,LA,sam11$

    computer2,Accounts Team Distribution Group,LA,sam22$

    computer3,Accounts Team Distribution Group,LA,sam33$

Note: The attributes that can be modified using CSV import are: name, primaryGroupId, dNSHostName, msNPAllowDailin, description, location and managedBy.
