Prerequisites for Monitoring
  • Ensure that the HBA Agent is installed and running . Download URL & installation instructions for each OS is available at,
  • Starting the host server platform SNMP service
OpStor discovers the HBAs in conjunction with discovery of the host server in which the HBA is located. Hence to monitor the HBAs, it is required tostart the SNMP platform service in the host server also.

    • Proceedure for Windows Servers :
      • Start the platform SNMP service if not already started.
      • Check the SNMP service Security settings. This can be viewed via Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Administartive Tools -> Services -> SNMP Service -> (Right-click) Properties -> Security (tab)
        • OpStor uses "public" snmp comunity to talk to host servers. Check if the snmp community name "public" is available in the text-window under "Accepted Comunity Names" with "READ-ONLY" rights. If not then add that community.
        • Check if the server running OpStor is allowed to access this SNMP Service. To do this, check if the IP of the server running OpStor is available in the "Accept SNMP packets from these hosts" text-window. If not, then add that IP address.
        • If any modifications are made, then save them by selecting "Apply" and restart the SNMP service. This is required for these changes to take effect.
    • Proceedure For Unix based Servers : (Linux, HP-UX , Solaris, AIX)
      • Start platform SNMP service if not already started. Check if community name "public" is configured with "read-only" privilage.
      • If SNMP service cannot be started, then a telnet user with username "guest" and password "guest" needs to be added.
