Overview

 

While managing your IP Address space, you would often need monitor your DHCP Servers to check the details of all DHCP Scopes. OpUtils lets you monitor your DHCP Servers to get the list of DHCP Scopes and the leased/available IP Addresses in each scope.

 

Supported DHCP Servers

 

The following DHCP Servers are currently supported:

Adding a DHCP Server

 

To add a DHCP Server,

  1. Click Add DHCP Server link available in the top-right or by from the right-click menu of DHCP Servers node from the tree.
  2. In the dialog that opens, specify the name or the IP address of the DHCP Server and choose the Windows domain to which it belongs. If you have not added Windows domain, you should first Add a Domain prior to adding a DHCP Server.
  3. Click Add
  4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 for adding multiple DHCP Servers.

Upon adding, OpUtils will automatically scan your DHCP Servers and list them in the tree.

 

Scanning a DHCP Server

 

When you add a DHCP Server, it gets scanned automatically to fetch the details. For the data to be accurate and up-to-date, it is necessary to scan them periodically. OpUtils lets you to scan the DHCP Servers either manually or automatically at scheduled intervals.

 

To perform a Manual scan,

    1. Click DHCP Servers from the left tree. This will list all the DHCP Servers that you have added.
    2. Select the DHCP Servers and click Scan.

Alternatively, you can also right-click the DHCP Server and choose Scan from the left tree.

 

To Schedule scanning of DHCP Servers,

    1. Click the Settings link available within the IP Address Manager tool and choose the DHCP tab.
    2. Choose the scheduler status as Enable
    3. Specify the schedule interval and click Save.

Viewing DHCP Scope Details

 

To view the details of the DHCP Server,

  1. Expand the DHCP Servers node from the tree and click a DHCP Server.
  2. This will list all the DHCP Scopes defined in that server along with the details of the leased and available IP counts in each scope.
  3. Click on a scope will further provide you the details of the IP addresses within that scope.

Configuring Alert Notifications

 

You can trigger email/syslog notifications to know with the IP addresses within a scope or on the DHCP Server reaches a specified limit. To configure email notifications,

  1. Click the Settings link available within the IP Address Manager tool and choose the Configure Alerts tab
  2. Choose the options "Lease Utilization of the Scope is greater than xx%"
  3. You can specify at what % the email has to be triggered.
  4. Also, you can choose to log this alert in syslog or be sent via email.
  5. When finished, click Save

Viewing Reserved/Leased IPs in DHCP

 

The details of the leased and reserved IP Addresses in the DHCP Servers are available as a ready-made report. Click Reports tab and choose the required report to view the details.
