Firmware Maintenance



About firmware

Firmware is the tiny piece of software that resides on each access providing the intelligence behind its working. Access point vendors release newer versions of these firmware periodically so that users can upgrade their access points to avail the latest feature or a fix in the access points.

 

Upgrading firmware of access points

To upgrade firmware of access points, follow the procedure given below:

 

Procedure:

  • Select Configuration tab

  • Choose "Firmware Jobs" from the left hand side links.

  • Choose "Add New Job" from the firmware jobs page. Fill the values in the template. Refer to the table below for details on the parameters.

  • Select the access point(s) to which you want to apply the firmware. Use the device selector for selecting the access point(s).

  • Click "Apply" to apply the firmware.

 

 

Parameter Description
General Details Job Name Name for your firmware upgrade job
Job Description Description about your job. Ex: Cisco 1100 firmware upgrade
Upgrade Details Select Image File Choose the firmware image file from your system. You should have already downloaded this image file from the vendor's website.
Select Device(s) to upgrade Device selector: Use this tool to select the access points which you want to upgrade
Schedule Upgrade Run firmware upgrade now/later Choose whether you want to run the upgrade now or later.
Run firmware upgrade on If you want to run the upgrade at a later time, specify the date and time.

 

Viewing firmware history

To view the history of firmware upgrades done through WiFi Manager, follow the procedure given below:

 

Procedure:

  • Step 1 : Select Configuration tab

  • Step 2 : Choose "Configuration History" from the left hand side links under the Audit Details heading for configuration history.
  • Step 2 : Choose "Firmware History" from the left hand side links under the Audit Details heading for firmware history.
