How to use ACL setting


The purpose of ACL setting is to indicate whether a particular MAC is to be allowed or blocked from the network. The steps in configuring the ACL setting include:

  • Block or pass through: By blocking, we mean the mobile unit is being blocked from associating to the Access Point.The action Pass through will allow the Mobile Unit from associating to the Access Point.
  • Import Option

 

Configuring ACL of access points

To configure the Access Control List (ACL) settings of access points, follow the procedure given below:

 

Procedure:

  • Select Configuration tab or alternatively, you can go to device details page from Inventory Tab and select Configure option on the right end for ACL settings.
  • Choose "Access Control List" from the left hand side links. Fill the configuration values in the template. Refer to the table below for details on the configuration parameters.

  • Select the access point(s) to which you want to apply these configurations. Use the device selector for selecting the access point(s).

  • Click "Apply" or "Apply and Reboot" to apply the configuration values

     


 

 

 

Parameter Description
Import from device For ease of use you can download the configuration settings of an existing access point, which you can modify and then apply to other access points. Import from device option helps you download the values from existing access points.
MAC Access Settings MAC Based Access Control Specify whether you want to enable MAC based access control in the access point or not
Operation Type Choose whether you want the AP to "block" the given MAC addresses or "pass through" them.
Add MAC address to be filtered Enter the MAC addresses using this field. Clicking on Add button will add the MAC address to the available MAC address list.
MAC Address List Lists the available MAC addresses
Select the Access Point(s) to be configured Device Selector: Use this tool to select the access points you want to configure.
