Installation and setup



System Requirements :
This section lists the requirements for installing and working with WiFi Manager.It shows the minimum Hardware configuration that is required to install and run the application, Browsers which support the application and the supported Operating Systems.

Hardware Requirements :

Any 32-bit x86 compatible Processor running above 700 MHz, 512 MB RAM, 200 MB Hard Disk Space, 24-bit color display.

Supported Browsers :

Internet Explorer and FireFox

 

Supported Operating systems:

  • Windows NT
  • Windows 2000 Professional
  • Windows XP Professional
  • Windows Vista
  • Red Hat Linux 8.0 & 9.0

    Installing WiFi Manager

    To Install WiFi Manager in Windows (.exe) :
    1. Once you have downloaded the file from http://www.manageengine.com/products/wifi-manager/download.html,execute the downloaded file. The Installation Wizard is displayed. Click Next to continue.
    2. Read the License Agreement and once you have read through the agreement, click on Yes to continue the installation process.
    3. Provide the location where the WiFi Manager should be installed in your machine. Click on Browse to provide a different location for installation. Click Next.
    4. Specify the name of the Folder to be placed in Program Folder. The default folder is ManageEngine WiFi Manager. Click Next to proceed.
    5. Specify the port at which web server has to be started. By default, it is 6080. WiFi Manager web client connects to this port.
    6. If you want to install WiFi Manager as a service, select the 'Install WiFi Manager as Service' option and click Next.
    7. The next screen prompts for the product edition (Professional - Trial, Professional - Registered User and Free Edition). Select the preferred edition to install. If you select the Professional - Registered edition, you will be prompted to specify the license file that you have obtained.
    8. You have an option to fill up a registration form for Technical Support.
    9. After completing the initialization process, the wizard shows the installshield window which displays two options :
      • Show as README file - which will give you a brief walkthrough about the product.
      • Start WiFi Manager server option- which will start up the server.
    10. Discovery Wizard: Once you complete the initialization process, the discovery wizard pops up and takes you through a series of user friendly screens enlisting the required details.The discovery wizard enables you to fill in the various parameters for discovery. Please refer to our doc on Getting started for the various steps in this wizard.

    To Install WiFi Manager in Linux :

    1. WiFi Manager download for Linux machines is available in the following URL: http://www.manageengine.com/products/wifi-manager/download.html
    2. Download the binary (executable) file, WiFiManager.bin
    3. Execute the binary file by using either of the following commands:
      <> bash ManageEngine_WiFiManager.bin (or ) ./ManageEngine_WiFiManager.bin
    4. Go through the License Agreement and proceed to the next step.
    5. By default, WiFi Manager will be installed in the <installation dir>/AdventNet/ME/WiFi Manager directory.You should specify the absolute path for <WiFi Manager Home> in this command. Proceed to the next step.
    6. By default WiFi Manager will run on webserver port 6080 .If you want to run WiFi Manager in a different port you can assign a port number to WiFi Manager.
    7. In the subsequent steps , select the WiFi Manager Edition (Professional or Free or Trial ).
    8. This completes the installation of WiFi Manager in your system.

    Uninstalling WiFi Manager

    Windows

    Click Start > Programs > ManageEngine WiFi Manager 5 > Uninstall WiFi Manager

     

    Linux

    To uninstall in Linux, remove the directory where WiFi Manager is installed.
