WebNMS Frameowrk Architecture and Features

WebNMS Framework is architected to support varying deployment needs ranging from a single server to multi server deployment

Architectural highlights include:

  • Data persistence using RDBMS , providing for data integrity and security
  • Multi-Tier Open Framework facilitating load sharing and failover
  • Support for using replicated or clustered databases
  • Stateless, Loosely Coupled Architecture with XML messaging
  • Thin and Rich Clients

Deployment Flexibility

High Availability - Multi-server deployment

The WebNMS Framework server consists of three tiers of server components, the management server (mediation) tier, which provides protocol mediation with the managed systems, the back-end server tier, which provides database transaction and encapsulation service and the front-end server tier, which provides client session management services.

Further Distributed Mediation Servers can be deployed for massive scalability by distributing the network facing functions across multiple Distributed Mediation Servers. These servers support management of large networks, achieving scalability on both the size of the networks and systems that can be managed.

There can be more than one deployment of each of these servers to achieve massive scalability. The servers can be deployed with redundancy so that any failure, results in failover to other server components.

This feature is crucial in high-availability applications.

Hierarchical Remote Management

WebNMS Framework supports distributed server deployment. Distributed Mediation Servers can be deployed in regional offices and a central server can be deployed at the NOC.

This deployment flexibility is particularly suited to geo-graphically dispersed deployments with a need for
remote management as well as centralized control.

The Distributed Mediation Server can effectively stream-line information flow with support for correlation, consoli-dation, buffering and propagation.

Regional servers can function behind proxy servers and firewalls with robust communication to NOC servers. XML over HTTP or XML over TCP can be used depending on the geographical distribution.

Persistent Data Model

High availability for managed services and operational support is achieved through a persistent RDBMS data model. WebNMS Framework leverages the benefits of replicated and clustered databases, transaction support, database synchronization and object locking.

The database Tier in the WebNMS Framework architecture incorpo-rates persistent data management support with failover capability.

WebNMS Framework offers seamless integration with Oracle, Sybase, MySQL, SQL Server, Solid, Timesten and other popular databases.
