Advanced Recovery

The Advanced Recovery tab allows you to roll back AD objects to an earlier state. Any modification or loss of data can be undone using this feature.

To roll back objects to any of their past states:

  1. Navigate to Active Directory > Active Directory Objects > Advanced Recovery.
  2. Select the domain in which you wish to execute the rollback process from the drop-down in the top-left corner.
  3. Click the Start New Rollback button in the top-right corner of the tab.
  4. In the Select Restore Point section, select the date to which you would like to roll back.
  5. In the Criteria Filter section:
    • Click the edit icon on the OU/Containers tile to filter for OUs and containers and click Save.
    • Click the edit icon on the Object Type/Attributes tile to filter for objects and their attributes and click Save.
    • Click the edit icon on the Object Name/Others tile to filter for objects based on the Object Name, sAMAccountName, Email, and Description. If you are not sure of the name, then you can make use of the filters: Contains, Starts With, Ends With, and Equals. Click the add icon to add multiple criteria and click Save.
  6. Click Save. The next screen will show the number of objects that have been found to match the given criteria.
  7. Narrow down your rollback search using the Filter drop-down.
  8. Click the Review option to view the objects and attributes that will be rolled back and click Rollback.
  9. In the pop-up, enter a brief description in the Description field if required and click Yes to confirm the rollback operation.

Note: If you have configured RecoveryManager Plus with a service account instead of a domain administrator account, you’ll be prompted to provide the credentials of a user who can write to AD. If the account used to configure RecoveryManager Plus can write to AD, select Use default domain credential and click Yes. If not, unselect Use default domain credential, provide the credentials of a user who can write to AD, and click Yes.
