A Failover server is a secondary server that starts managing your devices if the primary server goes down, thus eliminating any downtime caused. [Learn more](https://www.manageengine.com/desktop-management-msp/failover-server.html). ### How to check whether you have a Failover Server setup or not? In the Endpoint Central MSP's web console, go to the **Admin** tab, under **Server Settings**, click **Failover Server**. Stop Endpoint Central MSP. Open services.msc --> Find ManageEngine Endpoint Central MSP Server --> Stop the service. 2. Execute the UpdateManager.bat file present in the `/bin` directory. If you have installed Endpoint Central MSP Server on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 2008, Windows 8, or Windows 2012, you should login as a default administrator before running the Update Manager tool. 3. Click "Browse" and select the .ppm file that you have downloaded and install the file. This may take few minutes depending on the amount of data that needs to be migrated. Wait until the service pack / hotfix is fully installed. 4. Close and exit the Update Manager tool. 5. Start Endpoint Central MSP. ### How do I find out my build number? 1. Log in to the Endpoint Central MSP web client and navigate to the top right corner where Build version will be listed. 2. Also, you can find the build version in Support tab -> General Details -> Product Information -> Build Version. This is the build number of the currently installed Endpoint Central MSP. ### Need help? If you still have troubles in updating Endpoint Central MSP to the latest build write to us at msp-desktopcentral-support@manageengine.com ## Steps to follow if you have a Failover Server setup **Note**: In the Failover setup, the ppm should be applied to upgrade the primary server alone. The secondary server will be automatically upgraded to the same ppm. 1. Stop the Endpoint Central MSP secondary server. Open services.msc --> Find ManageEngine Endpoint Central MSP Server --> Stop the service. 2. Once the secondary server is stopped, navigate to `/bin` of the secondary server and execute the **"SecondaryServerPPMHandler.bat"** file. If the server version is below 10.1.2137.03 then skip this step and proceed further. 3. Stop the Endpoint Central MSP primary server. Open services.msc --> Find ManageEngine Endpoint Central MSP Server --> Stop the service. 4. Execute the UpdateManager.bat file present in the `/bin` directory in the primary server.
