# ManageEngine Applications Manager | Demo for creating Monitor Groups and Monitors

Alarms are notifications generated based on some condition or criteria thereby helping the Admin to detect problems early on. You can configure thresholds and alarms for availability and health of the Monitor Group. Based on them, actions can be executed.

You can configure alarms and actions (like sending EMail) for Availability and Health of the entire Monitor Group based on the dependent attributes. For example, individual attributes like Availability of the JBoss server and Availability of the Windows server will determine the availability of the Banking Application Monitor Group. If these Monitors are down, the Banking Application Monitor Group is also down. From the list of available actions, you can associate the required action according to the severity of the alarm. For example, if the Banking Application Monitor Group is down, the associated action (Critical Alarm action) is triggered accordingly.

**Save** the alarm configuration.
