What is Just in Time Access?

Just-in-Time (JIT) access is a feature provided by Endpoint Central that allows administrators to grant temporary and specific access privileges to users for a limited period of time. With JIT access, users are granted access only when they need it and for the specific tasks they require. This is in contrast to providing users with continuous administrative rights, which can increase the risk of unauthorized access and potential security breaches.

Why do you need Just in Time Access?

By implementing JIT access, organizations can minimize the potential for unauthorized access, limit the impact of insider threats, and improve overall security posture. It provides a proactive approach to access management, ensuring that users have the necessary privileges when needed without compromising security by granting continuous administrative rights.

How to configure Just in Time Access?

  1. Login to the Endpoint Central web console and navigate to App CtrlDeployment category → Just in Time Access.
  2. Provide the Name and Description for the policy.
  3. Provide the Computer Name for which you want to provide JIT access.
  4. Select the duration type: Fixed or Window. If the duration type is fixed, provide the duration of access and if it's a window, provide a window time frame for which you want to provide the JIT Access.
  5. Also, you can temporarily allow the administrator to have access to all applications or self-elevate his or her privileges.
  6. Click Deploy Immediately.

You have configured the just in time access policy!
