Best practices to prevent web-based threats
Browser Security Plus is an endpoint security software that will help IT admins harden the browsers present in their networks. This document comprises of practices recommended to secure your network against web-based threats.
Enable phishing filter
- Navigate to Policies and click on Threat Prevention.
- Click on Secure Now/Create Policy button.
- Name the policy to help identify during deployment process.
- Click on Enable corresponding to Phishing filter.
- Click on Save and Publish button.
Restrict configurations like autofill, remember passwords and automatic browser sync, and restrict websites from saving third party cookies
- Navigate to Policies and click on Data Leakage Prevention.
- Click on Secure Now/Create Policy button.
- Name the policy to help identify during deployment process.
- Click on Restrict corresponding to Autofill, Automatic browser sync and Remember passwords.
- Click on the drop down corresponding to Third Party cookies and select Never Allow.
- Click on Save and Publish button.
Review and remove potentially harmful extensions
- On the dashboard, click the graph under Potentially harmful extensions.
- Review the extensions.
- To block/disable extensions that you want find unnecessary, navigate to policies and click on Add-on Management.
- Select the Browser on which you want to block extensions.
- Enter the extensions that you want to block in the field corresponding to Blacklist Extensions.
- Click on Save and Publish buttons.
Restrict access to unauthorized websites
- Navigate to policies, and click on Web filter.
- Click on Create policy and name the policy.
- Click on block corresponding to Select action.
- Enter the websites or website group that you wish to block. Click here for steps to create website groups.
- Save and publish the policy.
Restrict downloads to authorized websites
- Navigate to Policies and click on Download Restriction.
- Click on Create Policy button.
- Enter a name for the policy and click on continue.
- Select 'Yes' if you want to limit downloads to specific websites. Select 'No' if you want to block downloads from specific websites.
- Select the websites or the website groups that you want to restrict/allow downloads from.
- Click on Save and Publish buttons.
To deploy the created policies to targeted groups/computers,
- Navigate to Manage.
- Based on your requirement, click ongroups/computers.
- Click on Action corresponding to the target group/computer.
- Select Deploy policy.
- Select the created policies and click on the Deploy button.
