Backup Settings

This section allows you to configure and manage backup schedules for your Microsoft Entra ID tenant in RecoveryManager Plus. In addition to backing up Microsoft Entra ID objects, you can also choose to back up BitLocker recovery keys and local administrator passwords during scheduled backups.

When a Microsoft Entra ID tenant is configured in RecoveryManager Plus, an entry for the tenant is automatically created in the Backup Settings page.

To configure a backup schedule for a Microsoft Entra ID tenant:

• Navigate to Entra ID > Settings > Backup Settings.
• Click the edit icon located in the Action column of the tenant.
• Select the frequency for full backups from the available options: weekly or monthly.
• Select the frequency for incremental backups from the available options: hourly, daily, or weekly.
• Select the archive repository in which you wish to store the backups from the drop-down box.
• From the Select Archive Repository drop-down menu, choose a repository to store backup archives. If no repositories are available, click the repository icon , then click Yes in the pop-up that appears to add a new repository. For detailed steps on configuring repositories, refer to this page.
• Under Advanced Settings:
  • Check the Include BitLocker Recovery Keys box to include them in the backup schedule.
  • Check the Include Local Admin Passwords box to include them in the backup schedule.
  • Check the Exclude Dynamic Group Members box to exclude dynamic group members from backups because they cannot be modified or restored manually.
• Click Save.

Once you have created a backup schedule, you can edit it any time by clicking on the icon.
