How to configure a database password for Microsoft SQL Server with Windows authentication

If you are using a Microsoft SQL Server database for M365 Security Plus and you configured it with Windows authentication, you previously might have had to change your password manually by encrypting it and updating it in the databaseparams.conf file.

If you are authenticating to Microsoft SQL Server with the login account used to configure M365 Security Plus as a service, you can bypass this by commenting the username and password in the databaseparams.conf file. This will make the product automatically use the service account credentials for Microsoft SQL Server authentication. You can do this by following the steps below:

  1. Navigate to <M365 Security Plus Installation folder>/conf/ (by default, <M365 Security Plus Installation folder> is C:\Program Files\ManageEngine\M365 Security Plus) and open the databaseparams.conf file using a text editor of your choice.
  2. Insert # next to username and password as shown in the image.
  3. Save the file.
