This page explains the MDM Wallpaper policy for iOS, which enables administrators to push custom images to the Home Screen and/or Lock Screen of supervised iOS 7.0 and later devices. Admins can upload images in JPG, JPEG, or PNG format at device-specific resolutions and optionally prevent users from changing the distributed wallpaper. For supervised devices running iOS 9.0 and above, admins can allow users to modify the wallpaper. If a profile is removed, the distributed image remains until manually changed by the user.
With organizations extensively handing out corporate devices to employees, using organization logo as wallpaper is added as an additional task for Admins. Further, there are chances the users might change the image. Using Wallpaper policy, you can push an image to be set as the wallpaper for Home Screen and/or Lock Screen and optionally ensure the user cannot change the distributed wallpaper. All that the Admin needs to do is to upload an image corresponding to the device resolution based on the table below and distribute it to the devices. This is applicable for Supervised devices running iOS 7.0 or later versions. MDM also lets you apply different images for home screen and lock screen, within a single policy. - If this policy is distributed to the device, the Wallpaper settings present on the device is disabled. For supervised devices running iOS 9.0 and above, you can allow users to modify the wallpaper.
- Even after the profile is disassociated, the image distributed continues to be the wallpaper image and users have to manually change the wallpaper image through device settings.
- In case you have associated multiple wallpaper profiles per device, the profile that is last associated is only applied on the device.

1. Can users change the wallpaper that's been pushed through MDM?
By default, users cannot modify the distributed wallpaper. However, for supervised devices running iOS 9.0 and above, you can allow users to modify the wallpaper using the Allow user to modify wallpaper setting.
