Frequently asked questions

How do I remove the MDM agent from a managed Android device?

On the device, go to Settings > Security > Device Administrator and disable it, then go to Settings > Applications, select ManageEngine Mobile Device Manager Plus, and uninstall it.

I can't uninstall the agent after unmanaging the device - why?

If the device was unmanaged from the MDM server while the agent app was hidden, connectivity issues can block a normal uninstall. Unhide the app first, then remove it using the same Settings > Applications steps.

Does this uninstall process work on Samsung Knox devices too?

Yes, the same Device Administrator and Applications uninstall steps apply to Android devices, including those managed as Samsung Knox devices.

Do I need to disable Device Administrator before uninstalling the app?

Yes - the app can't be uninstalled while it's still set as Device Administrator, so that must be disabled under Settings > Security first.
