# Windows 11 21H2 Feature Pack Deployment

> **Note**  
> Deployment of Windows 11 21H2 feature pack is supported only in Patch Manager Plus build versions 10.0.147 and above.

Follow the steps below to download the ISO image:

> **Note**  
> The SSP (Self-Service Portal) method is not applicable for performing feature pack upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11 via Patch Management.

## Steps to deploy Windows 11 21H2 update

## 1. Prerequisites

### Prerequisites to deploy Windows 11 21H2 updates

1. Before deployment, run through the [Compatibility Check](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-11-specifications?howto) available towards the end of the page, to find if you meet all the minimum requirements that impact upgradeability.
2. Ensure that feature pack option is enabled under Patch database settings.  
   In Endpoint Central: **Patch Mgmt → Settings → Patch Database Settings →** click on the **Windows tab** and enable the **Optional Updates** option.  
   In Patch Manager Plus: **Admin → Settings → Patch Database Settings →** click on the **Windows tab** and enable the **Optional Updates** option.
3. Ensure that you have not declined the feature pack updates under decline patches section.

## 2. Downloading the dependency patch (ISO file) and adding/uploading

### Windows 11 21H2 Enterprise Edition

Follow the steps below to download the ISO image:

1. Download Windows 11 21H2 ISO file from the [Microsoft 365 Admin Center](https://admin.microsoft.com/adminportal/home#/subscriptions/vlnew) or by referring to [this page](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/vlsc-faqs-home-page#where-do-i-see-volume-licensing-experiences-in-microsoft-365-admin-center-__).

2. If you're using **Patch Manager Plus builds 10.1.2282.6 and above**:

   - **Method 1:**
     - Click on **Upload** near the *Download failed* error message.
     - In the pop-up window, browse and select the file to upload.
     - Choose between the **Checksum** types (MD5 and SHA256).

     - Enter the checksum and wait for it to be validated.
     - Once validated, click on **Upload**.
     - Once the patch has been uploaded, it can be installed.

   - **Method 2:**
     - Navigate to **Patches → Downloaded Patches** and search for the necessary patches.
     - Click on **Upload** (under Action).
     - Once the upload window pops up, follow the steps mentioned above to upload the patches.

3. If you're using **Endpoint Central builds 10.1.2282.6 and above**:

   - **Method 1:**
     - Click on **Upload** near the *Download failed* error message.
     - In the pop-up window, browse and select the file to upload.
     - Choose between the **Checksum** types (MD5 and SHA256).

If you're using **Patch Manager Plus builds below 10.1.2282.6 and Endpoint Central builds below 10.1.2282.6**:

1. Download Windows 11 21H2 ISO file from the [Microsoft 365 Admin Center](https://admin.microsoft.com/adminportal/home#/subscriptions/vlnew) or by referring to [this page](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/vlsc-faqs-home-page#where-do-i-see-volume-licensing-experiences-in-microsoft-365-admin-center-__).
2. Navigate to the patch store:
   - In Endpoint Central: **Patch Management → Downloaded Patches → Settings → Patch Repository Location**
   - In Patch Manager Plus: **Patches → Downloaded Patches → Settings → Patch Repository Location**
   - In Vulnerability Manager Plus: **Patches → Downloaded Patches → Settings → Patch Repository Location**
3. Copy the downloaded ISO file manually into the patch store directory, and rename the ISO file as given below:

**Language - English:**

- 64 bit: 109023-Win11_21H2_en_enterprisex64.iso

> **Note**  
> The above naming convention is applicable only for Windows 11 21H2 Enterprise edition.

> To deploy Win 11 feature packs in more than one language, check the respective ISO files for each language, download and place them in the patch store.

### Windows 11 21H2 Professional Edition

Follow the steps below to download the ISO image:

1. Download Windows 11 21H2 ISO file from the [Microsoft 365 Admin Center](https://admin.microsoft.com/adminportal/home#/subscriptions/vlnew) or by referring to [this page](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/vlsc-faqs-home-page#where-do-i-see-volume-licensing-experiences-in-microsoft-365-admin-center-__).

2. If you're using **Patch Manager Plus builds 10.1.2282.6 and above**:

   - **Method 1:** Follow the same upload steps as described for Enterprise Edition.
   - **Method 2:** Navigate to **Patches → Downloaded Patches**, click **Upload**, and follow the same steps.

3. If you're using **Endpoint Central builds 10.1.2282.6 and above**:

   - **Method 1:** Follow the same upload steps as described for Enterprise Edition.
   - **Method 2:** Navigate to **Patch Mgmt → Downloaded Patches**, click **Upload**, and follow the same steps.

If you're using **Patch Manager Plus builds below 10.1.2282.6 and Endpoint Central builds below 10.1.2282.6**:

1. Download the ISO file from the [Microsoft 365 Admin Center](https://admin.microsoft.com/adminportal/home#/subscriptions/vlnew) or [this page](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/vlsc-faqs-home-page#where-do-i-see-volume-licensing-experiences-in-microsoft-365-admin-center-__).
2. Navigate to the patch store as described above.
3. Copy the downloaded ISO file into the patch store directory and rename it as follows:

**Language - English:**

- 64 bit: 109021-Win11_21H2_enx64.iso

> **Note**  
> The above naming convention is applicable for all Windows 11 21H2 editions except the Enterprise edition.

### Other Windows 11 21H2 Editions

- **For Endpoint Central build versions 10.0.429 and above**
  1. Navigate to **Patch Management → Patches → Supported Patches** and search for Patch ID 109021 (for 64-Bit).
  2. Select the appropriate patch and click **Download Patches**. This will automatically download the appropriate ISO file.
  3. After downloading, proceed to the feature pack deployment steps.

- **For Endpoint Central build versions 10.0.428 and below**
  - Update to the latest build version to automate ISO file download.

- **For Patch Manager Plus build version 10.0.545 and above**
  1. Navigate to **Patches → Supported Patches** and search for Patch ID 109021 (for 64-Bit).
  2. Select the appropriate patch and click **Download Patches**.
  3. After downloading, proceed to the feature pack deployment steps.

- **For Patch Manager Plus build versions 10.0.426 and below**
  - Update to the latest build version.

- **For Vulnerability Manager Plus 10.0.598 and above**
  1. The ISO file download is automated (except for Windows 11 21H2 Enterprise Edition). Follow the steps given [here](https://www.manageengine.com/patch-management/how-to/auto-download-of-ISO-image.html) to enable automatic download.
  2. After enabling, proceed to deployment.

- **Manual download of ISO file**
  1. Download Windows 11 21H2 ISO file from the [Microsoft 365 Admin Center](https://admin.microsoft.com/adminportal/home#/subscriptions/vlnew) or from [here](https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows11).
  2. Navigate to **Patch Management → Downloaded Patches → Settings → Patch Repository Location**.
  3. Copy the ISO file into the patch store and rename:

**Language - English**

- 64 Bit: 109021-Win11_21H2_enx64.iso

> **Note**  
> The above naming convention is not applicable for Windows 11 21H2 Enterprise edition.

## 3. Deploy the Windows 11 21H2 updates

### Manual Deployment

1. In the server web console, navigate to supported patches view.
2. Choose the Windows 11 21H2 feature pack patches you wish to deploy.

**Patch ID details:**

- 109024 - Windows 11 21H2 Enterprise Edition - 64 Bit
- 109022 - Other Windows 11 21H2 Editions - 64 Bit

3. Click **Install Patch** to deploy them.
