While installing a patch, you may encounter Error messages such as:
- Error Code: 2145124343
- Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install.
- Another conflicting operation was in progress. Some operations such as installation cannot be performed twice simultaneously.
- The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
This happens when:
- Windows is already installing or updating something else in the background.
- You're trying to run two installations at the same time (which isn’t allowed).
- A file needed by the update is being used by another app.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, try one of the following methods:
Method 1: Restart Your Computer
Try restarting your computer and then reinstall the patch using the product. Restarting will clear any stuck installations or files being used by other apps.
Method 2: Use Patch Manager Plus’s Cleanup Patch (for Windows Update Store Issues)
This method will fix issues in Windows Update files that might be corrupt or stuck.
Navigate to the Supported Patches view and deploy 105979 patch to the failed machines. After deployment, restart the computer and try reinstalling the patch once again.
Method 3: Check and Stop Windows Installer Manually (if error persists)
Open Task Manager and navigate to the Details tab. Search for 'msiexec.exe' and 'wusa.exe'; if either is found, end these tasks. Additionally, check the services for the status of the Windows Installer service and stop it if it is running.
If the issue still persists, download the log file and contact support.
