Domain migrations without the click-by-click pain

Move computers between Windows domains or to a workgroup in seconds — single PCs or hundreds at once. Eliminate the tedious 'right-click My Computer → Properties → Change' workflow that consumes IT migration projects, and roll fleet-wide changes from a single console without touching each desktop.

Bulk moveSingle workflowMigration speed

Bulk join & unjoin

Move single PCs or hundreds simultaneously. Operations run in parallel — migrate an entire OU between domains in minutes, not days.

Multi-PCParallel

Domain ↔ workgroup

Move computers from a domain to a workgroup (for decommissioning, sale, or repurposing), or from a workgroup into a domain for initial provisioning.

Both directionsFlexible

Cross-domain migration

Move computers from one Windows domain to another — invaluable during mergers, acquisitions, or AD consolidation projects across forests.

Per-machine status

See the success or failure result for each computer. Quickly identify machines that failed due to trust issues, connectivity, or credential problems.

Unified admin console

Pair with System Inventory to baseline before/after a migration, and with GPO Update to push fresh policy after the move. All 15 free tools share a single console — one download, one window.

Get going in under 60 seconds

From download to first result in five simple steps. No complex configuration, no firewall rules, no additional licensing.

  1. 1

    Install Free Windows Admin Tools

Install on your admin workstation. No agent push to target PCs — domain credentials and standard Windows networking do all the work.

Requirement: Two-minute setup, no license key required. Install only on the admin's machine.
  2. 2

Open Join / Unjoin from the sidebar

Click Join / Unjoin in the sidebar of the unified console. The tool loads instantly alongside the other 14 utilities.

Tip: Always baseline with System Inventory before migration — useful if anything goes sideways.
  3. 3

    Select target machines

Choose computers from the auto-discovered list — single PCs, OUs, or custom selections. Filter by name, status, or domain to scope a batch precisely.

Pilot first: Migrate 5-10 test machines before bulk-moving production systems.
  4. 4

    Set destination domain or workgroup

Choose 'join domain' (with target domain and credentials) or 'unjoin to workgroup' (with workgroup name). Configure once, apply to every selected PC.

Required: You'll need domain admin credentials for the destination domain when joining.
  5. 5

    Move machines and validate

Operations execute in parallel. Restart prompts appear where needed. Verify membership with a fresh System Inventory scan post-restart.

Going further: For end-to-end migration workflows including OS deployment, see OS Deployer.

Lab & test provisioning

Quickly move dozens of newly imaged PCs from workgroup into a target domain. Cut hours off provisioning runs for labs, classrooms, and test environments.

Decommissioning & repurposing

Move retiring computers out of the domain to a workgroup before resale, donation, or repurposing. Clean separation from corporate AD with an audit trail.
