How to deploy images using Zero touch task?

1. Pre-requisites

1. To perform zero-touch deployment, you must create an image of the required machine and customize the image using a deployment template.
2. Create a bootable media with the necessary drivers. This bootable media will be used to boot the target computers before deployment.
3. Ensure that the target machines are online with an existing OS.
4. Enable Admin$ access on the computers where the image will be deployed.

2. Deployment template

1. Under Deploy, select Zero touch task.
2. Click Add Zero touch task.
3. Specify a unique name for the deployment task.
4. Select the deployment template using which you have customized the image. You will be able to view the details of the deployment template now.

3. Bootable media

1. Select the required bootable media which can be PXE/USB/ISO.

4. Target computers

1. Select the remote office under which the target computers are present.
2. Add the target computers.
3. You can also manually add the target computers using a CSV file.

5. Deployment settings

You can select the deployment method to deploy the images.

1. Multicast Deployment method

   In multicast deployment method, the server sends the image copy to multiple computers at the same time, preventing excess bandwidth consumption. For example, if you have purchased 100 computers and you want to deploy OS to them at the same time, you can choose the multicast method. The bandwidth consumption will be less in this method, since the same copy of the OS image will be sent to all the target computers at once. Multicast deployment method is applicable only for machines in the local office.

   Note:

   • Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) is used for multicast deployment. Hence ensure that the required network routers and switches must be IGMP enabled and correctly configured. The detailed information on configuring routers and switches can be viewed in the documentation provided with the hardware.
   • For multicast deployment, the OS deployment server uses IP addresses in the range 239.255.20.20 to 239.255.20.29 and port 20001. Ensure that these IP addresses and port are not used for other processes.
2. Unicast Deployment method

   In unicast deployment method, the server sends the image copy to each computer one by one. For example, you might have a new joiner in your organization and you want to give a new system to him with a specific OS; you can choose the unicast deployment method. In this method, the server will send the OS image to each target computer separately. This method is recommended for deployment up to 5 computers.

3. Schedule Deployment

   You can schedule the time interval for deployment for your convenience.

Zero touch task has been created successfully. Click Deploy Now to initiate the deployment process.
