# Accessing the Vulnerability Manager Plus web console

## Steps to access the web console:

1. Open your web browser.
2. For http secure communication, type `https://HostName:8383`. For http communication, type `http://HostName:8020`. By default, the connection is established on http port 8020 and https port 8383.
3. Press enter.

   **Note:** The communication between the Central server and agent is completely secured with a SSL certificate that comes bundled along with the product package. You can also import a third party SSL certificate. 4. If you're a first time user, use the default username and password as **admin** and **admin**.
5. Click **Login** to access the console.

**Note:** To securely access your web console, [learn about changing your password](https://www.manageengine.com/vulnerability-management/how-to/reset-vulnerability-manager-plus-password.html). After changing the password, you can use the same at the login page to access the console.
