# Endpoint Central MSP Readme

Welcome to ManageEngine Endpoint Central MSP - an easy-to-install, ready-to-use product that eases desktop administration by providing access to almost all desktop administrative functions from a single point.

## Working with Endpoint Central MSP

### Starting Endpoint Central MSP

- You can start Endpoint Central MSP directly by navigating to the **Start** button --> **Services.msc**. Right click on **Services.msc** and choose **Run as Administrator**.
- Search for **ManageEngine UEMS-Server** --> Right click on it and choose to start the service.

You can also start the Endpoint Central server in any of the below mentioned ways also:

1. Double-click the **ManageEngine Endpoint Central MSP** icon from the desktop.
2. Select **Start** --> **Programs** --> **ManageEngine Endpoint Central MSP** --> Start Endpoint Central MSP.

Starting the Endpoint Central MSP automatically launches the client in the default browser.

**Note:** When Endpoint Central MSP is started in Windows XP / Windows 2003 machines with firewall enabled, Windows will pop up security alerts asking whether to block or unblock the the following programs:

1. Postgres - Database server
2. Java(TM) 2 Platform Standard Edition binary - Java.

You should **Unblock** these programs to start Endpoint Central MSP.

### Starting Endpoint Central MSP Client

1. Open a JavaScript-enabled Web Browser. For example, Microsoft Edge.
2. Type **http://localhost:8040** OR **http://Host Name:8040** in the address bar and press "**Enter**".  
   Note: By default, Endpoint Central MSP runs on port 8040.
3. In the login page enter a valid user name and password. This provides an authenticated access to Endpoint Central MSP. By default, the user name and password are "admin" and "admin" respectively.
4. Click "**Login**".
5. The Endpoint Central MSP Client is launched in the Web browser.

### Steps to be Performed after Initial Login

1. Define the [scope of management](https://www.manageengine.com/desktop-management-msp/help/configuring_desktop_central/defining_scope_of_management.html) - Scope can be limited to a small set of computers or the whole domain
2. [Setup Software Deployment](https://www.manageengine.com/desktop-management-msp/help/configuring_desktop_central/software_deployment_setup.html)
3. [Setup Patch Management](https://www.manageengine.com/desktop-management-msp/help/patch_management/patch_management.html)
4. [Setup Mobile Device Management](https://www.manageengine.com/desktop-management-msp/help/mobile_device_management.html)
5. [Setup Asset Management](https://www.manageengine.com/desktop-management-msp/help/inventory/inventory_asset_management.html)
6. [Setup User Logon Reports](https://www.manageengine.com/desktop-management-msp/help/user_logon_tracking/setting_up_user_logon_reports.html)
7. [Define and apply configurations](https://www.manageengine.com/desktop-management-msp/help/windows_remote_configurations.html) to either users or computers. The configurations will get applied during user logon / computer startup or during the 90 minutes refresh cycle, whichever is earlier.
8. View the status if the configurations applied to the users/computers.

### Stopping Endpoint Central MSP

To stop Endpoint Central MSP, **Navigate to Start button --> Services.msc.** Right click on **Services.msc** to run as administrator. Next search for **ManageEngine UEMS Server** and right click on **Stop Service** option.  

OR  

**Select Start --> Programs --> ManageEngine Endpoint Central MSP --> Stop Endpoint Central MSP**  

OR execute the command **"DCService.bat -p"** in the location *<DesktopCentral_Home>/bin* directory.

### Uninstallation

To uninstall Endpoint Central MSP, select **Start --> Programs --> ManageEngine Endpoint Central MSP --> Uninstall**
