ManageEngine Upgrades Applications Manager Suite, Strengthens Cloud Monitoring Capabilities

AUSTIN, TX, August 10, 2010ManageEngine, makers of a globally renowned suite of cost effective network, systems, security and applications management software solutions, today announced new support for monitoring PostgreSQL database servers and Memcached servers has been added to ManageEngine Applications Manager, the company's widely deployed server and application performance monitoring software.

The new features, part of Applications Manager version 9.2, are designed to strengthen the software’s cloud monitoring capabilities while reiterating ManageEngine’s support for open source software.

The capabilities offered by ManageEngine Applications Manager give IT administrators valuable insight into the health and performance of their PostgreSQL database servers as well as Memcached servers. With the aid of comprehensive performance metrics as well as in-depth reports, IT administrators can ensure their cloud-based applications are performing at optimum levels; and can quickly detect and resolve problems with their caching systems before those problems adversely impact the business.

Key performance indicators tracked by Applications Manager include availability, health and cache hit ratio, transaction, lock, buffer and disk usage statistics, allowing IT administrators to easily understand how their SaaS deployments that use Memcached are performing. In case of any performance degradation, administrators can quickly discover the root cause and take necessary actions to improve the performance.

“We've found Applications Manger to be extremely valuable in helping us ensure the software on which our business depends is performing the way we need it to be," said Jonathan Runyon, assistant director for application support, Plano Independent School District, Plano, Texas. "We're pleased that ManageEngine is continually adding capabilities to their software, which helps us stay ahead of the curve."

"More companies are increasingly adopting open source software such as Memcached and PostgreSQL to speed up their dynamic database-driven cloud-hosted applications," said Gibu Mathew, product manager, Applications Performance Management Solutions at ManageEngine. "By including support for monitoring PostgreSQL and Memcached servers, we are strengthening our support for open source software, which is the base for many SaaS deployments."

The new capabilities announced today follow the preview of Applications Manager’s support for VMware monitoring, part of ManageEngine’s Interop showcase. That advancement resulted in ManageEngine being named a "Best of Interop 2010" finalist in the virtualization category.
