DUBAI, United Arab Emirates and PLEASANTON, Calif. - March 29, 2017 - ManageEngine, the real-time IT management company, today announced the addition of two-factor authentication (2FA) support in ADManager Plus, its Active Directory (AD) management and reporting solution. The company also announced the addition of user provisioning in the ADManager Plus iOS app. The addition of 2FA support establishes an extra layer of security around ADManager Plus logins while user provisioning support makes the iOS app a complete user life cycle management tool for on-the-go AD admins.

ManageEngine is demonstrating the enhanced version of ADManager Plus at e-Crime & Cybersecurity Dubai, being held March 29, 2017, at the Conrad Dubai hotel.

With increasing instances of brute-force attacks and stolen passwords, relying only on usernames and passwords fails to provide adequate security. Every organization, no matter how big or small, is looking to safeguard their confidential data in the best ways possible. 2FA improves data security by requiring users to prove their identity in two ways; so even if one factor is compromised (e.g., credentials), the attackers would still need to overcome the second layer of security (e.g., a one-time password). Using two factors to authenticate users effectively protects against the most common breaches to security.

"We added two-factor authentication shortly after smart card support to enable our customers to set up simple yet more secure access to ADManager Plus. With these features, organizations can easily satisfy compliance regulations, such as PCI, HIPAA and SOX," said Manikandan Thangaraj, director of product management at ManageEngine. "Since ADManager Plus is an access point to Active Directory, the additional layer of security around our solution translates into greater security for our customers' AD as well."

ADManager Plus offers the flexibility of using Duo Security, Google Authenticator or a one-time password via email to provide the second factor for authentication. When used in combination with smart cards, logging in becomes even simpler as users do not have to remember their credentials. It also makes it easier for organizations to satisfy compliance regulations. Furthermore, using both smart cards and 2FA reduces the chance of impersonation, an added advantage in the face of expanding security threats.

End-to-End User Life Cycle Management with the ADManager Plus iOS App

Every time an employee has to wait to access the right resources, it not only affects the productivity of just that employee but also of the organization as a whole. Therefore, AD administrators need to be able to manage their organization's user accounts 24/7.

With ADManager Plus' mobile apps, administrators get exactly what they need - the power to manage users' accounts from anywhere, anytime. The addition of user creation to the ADManager Plus iOS app - coupled with the existing options to reset passwords and enable, disable, unlock, move or delete user accounts - makes it possible to perform end-to-end user life cycle management right from mobile devices.

With this latest addition to the ADManager Plus iOS app, admins and help desk technicians will be able to:

  • Provision user accounts across AD, Exchange Server, Office 365, G Suite (Google Apps) and Skype for Business (Lync), simultaneously.
  • Easily create user accounts with all the required attributes in just a few clicks.
  • Standardize user provisioning according to the requirements of a particular department or branch using appropriate templates.
