How to prevent username from being displayed during sign-in?

The Interactive logon: Don't display username at sign-in is a security policy setting that determines if the username is displayed during sign-in. It applies to Windows 10 starting with version 1703 and Windows Server 2019.

Description

The Interactive logon: Don't display username at sign-in policy setting impacts only the Other user tile at sign-in. With this policy setting is enabled, if a user signs in as Other user, the full username is not displayed during sign-in. When the user enters the domain username, password, and clicks submit, 'Other user' remains unchanged until the Start screen displays. On the other hand, if this policy is disabled, 'Other user' is replaced with the user's first and last name during sign-in.

The possible values for this policy setting are:

  • Enabled
  • Disabled
  • Not defined
