Frequently asked questions

Why do I need to set admin credentials to run the MDM server on Windows Vista, 2008, 7, or 2008 R2?

These Windows versions require the Mobile Device Manager Plus server to run under a user account with administrative privileges - either a domain or local user - so the service can start and run correctly.

How do I set the admin credentials for the MDM server on these Windows versions?

Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services, right-click ManageEngine Mobile Device Manager Plus and select Properties, then on the Logon tab choose "This account" and enter the account name and password (confirming the password) before clicking OK.

Why should the account password be set to "Password Never Expires"?

If the password of the account running the MDM server changes, the server will not be able to start because its stored credentials will be incorrect. Setting the password to never expire avoids this issue.

Do I need to restart the MDM server after changing the account credentials?

Yes. After updating the Logon account details in Services, right-click ManageEngine Mobile Device Manager Plus and select Restart to apply the change.
