Opmanager integrates with Open AI to enhance network monitoring with AI-powered insights. Through this integration, ChatGPT is leveraged to automatically generate summaries for device statuses, alarms and other metrics in OpManager. This enables the users to get a unified overview along with recommended actions for faster troubleshooting and improved productivity.
OpManager protects sensitive information through a built-in PII masking layer that runs before any data reaches OpenAI. Identifiers such as IP addresses, hostnames, and serial numbers are masked ahead of transmission and unmasked automatically once a response is generated, keeping summaries and scripts fully usable while keeping sensitive data out of reach of the AI vendor.
To view the AI generated summaries in OpManager, you must first configure Open AI in OpManager. OpManager integrates with OpenAI using an API key generated from the OpenAI platform. You have to copy the API key from your Open AI account and configure it in OpManager.
You have successfully integrated Open AI with OpManager.
Once Open AI is configured, use the AI Settings page to control which features are enabled and which model handles each one. Navigate to Settings → General Settings → AI Settings.
The Model dropdown shows a curated list of frontier OpenAI models that support chat completions. If the model you need isn't listed, enter its name in the Custom Model field. Use the Token Count dropdown to control how many tokens are sent per request — choose from 1000, 2000, or 3000, or select Custom to enter a value between 250 and 8000.

To apply the same model to all features, enable the Apply to all features checkbox. Otherwise, each feature can be enabled and assigned a model independently.

With the OpenAI chatGPT integration, users can view the summaries of certain monitored entities. Such as:
You can view the summary of all the alarms that are generated together as a consolidated overview of the recent alarms with their key details. To view that,
The summary of an individual alarm with the alarm type, probable causes and recommendations steps can be generated.
With the integration, you can get an overview of the device groups created in OpManager along with the devices condition, key metrics and recommendations. This can be viewed from the snapshot of a device group.
The summary for an individual device can also be generated that will give an overview of the device with it's key metrics.
With the OpenAI integration, correlated Problems can also be analyzed for probable cause. When related alarms are grouped into a single Problem through Event Correlation, OpenAI reviews the associated alarms and identifies the probable cause with a high or medium confidence level, along with recommended next steps.

Using this integration, the scripts for script templates can be generated with the help pf AI. Just like in ChatGPT, you have to enter a prompt and the script will be generated for you.
These are the five areas in Opmanager, where summaries can be generated with AI capabilities.
