# Alarm Suppression OpManager provides you the option to suppress the alarms of the devices for a pre-defined time interval. This option will be useful in cases where the devices are under maintenance or some known issues exist with them. - [Group Alarm Suppression](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/suppress-alarms.html#group-alarm-suppression) - [Category Alarm Suppression](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/suppress-alarms.html#category-alarm-suppression) - [Device Alarm Suppression](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/suppress-alarms.html#device-alarm-suppression) - [Interface Alarm Suppression](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/suppress-alarms.html#interface-alarm-suppression) - [Monitor Alarm Suppression](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/suppress-alarms.html#monitor-alarm-suppression) - [Configuration Methods for Alarm Suppression](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/suppress-alarms.html#config-methods) - [Quick Configuration Wizard (QCW)](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/suppress-alarms.html#qcw) - [Workflow](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/suppress-alarms.html#workflow) - [Device Downtime Schedules](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/suppress-alarms.html#downtime) - [Discovery Rule Engine](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/suppress-alarms.html#discovery) ## Group alarm suppression Group alarm suppression allows you to suppress alarms for all devices within a specific group. This is useful when you want to avoid receiving alarms during maintenance or while performing updates on an entire group of devices. Refer to the [Configuration methods for Alarm suppression](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/suppress-alarms.html#config-methods) section for detailed steps. ## Category Alarm Suppression Category alarm suppression lets you suppress alarms for devices belonging to a specific category, such as WLAN devices, UCS servers, or printers. This feature is beneficial when certain categories of devices require maintenance or upgrades. Refer to [this section](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/suppress-alarms.html#config-methods) for detailed steps. ## Device alarm suppression ### Inventory - Navigate to **Inventory → Devices**. - Select a device, click the three-dot icon on the top right, and choose **Suppress Alarm**. - Set the required suppression duration. - The suppression icon appears in the **Suppressed** column for the respective device. - In the same suppression window, users can view the configured suppressions. - Delete individual entries or use **Delete All** to remove all suppressions for that device. ### Device snapshot page - Open the device’s snapshot page. - Click the menu icon on the top right and select **Suppress Alarm**. - Choose the suppression period. - The suppression icon is displayed near the device status, within the Recent Alarms tab, and on the Alarms icon. - From the suppression details on the snapshot page, users can delete individual suppressions or select **Delete All**. ![Alarm Suppression in OpManager: Device suppression](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/images/alarm-suppression-1.png) **Note:** - When a device has multiple alarm suppressions configured, i.e., via categories and groups, using the Delete All option from the Suppression window will only delete device-specific alarm suppressions. Category or group-based suppressions will remain unaffected. To delete category or group-based suppressions, use the Quick Configuration Wizard (QCW). - Similarly, when multiple suppressions are configured for a device, the longer suppression will automatically take effect. For example, if suppressions are set for 8 hours and 1 day, the 1-day suppression will be applied automatically. ## Interface alarm suppression ### Inventory - Navigate to **Inventory → Interfaces**. - Select an interface, click the three-dot icon on the top right, and choose **Suppress Alarm**. - Set the suppression duration. - The suppression icon appears near the interface name in the interface list. - In the same suppression window, users can view and delete individual suppressions or select **Delete All** for that interface. ### Interface snapshot page - Open the interface’s snapshot page. - Click the menu icon and select **Suppress Alarm**. - Define the suppression period. - The suppression icon is displayed near the interface summary. - From the suppression details, users can delete individual entries or choose **Delete All**. ## Monitor alarm suppression ### Device Snapshot Page (Monitors Tab) - Open the device snapshot and navigate to the **Monitors** tab. - Select one or more monitors, then click the menu icon and choose **Suppress Alarm**. - Set the required suppression duration. - The suppression icon appears next to the monitor name in the Monitors tab and is also visible in both graph and forecast views. - From the suppression details in the Monitors tab, users have the ability to delete individual suppressions or select **Delete All**. ## Configuration methods for alarm suppression Users can apply filters to narrow down the devices for which alarm suppression is applied. There are four available filter options: - **Devices:** Discovered devices can be further refined based on Business View, Groups, or Virtual Servers. Additionally, devices can be filtered by their category. - **Category:** The category of the device (e.g., WLAN, UCS, Printer, etc.). - **Group:** The groups created in OpManager. - **Global URL:** The monitored URLs in OpManager. To view the list of monitored Global URLs, navigate to **Settings → Monitoring → URL Monitors**. ### Quick Configuration Wizard (QCW) - Open QCW and select **Configure**. - Choose the appropriate filter type—Category, Group, or URL—depending on the suppression you wish to apply. - Apply the required suppression settings. - Use the **Remove** option in QCW to clear all suppressions applied for the chosen filter type. ![Alarm Suppression in OpManager: Quick Configuration Wizard](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/images/alarm-suppression-2.png) ### Workflow - Navigate to **Workflow → New Workflow**. - Drag and drop the **Suppress Alarm** action from the OpManager dropdown. - Select the appropriate suppression type (such as Group, if applying to groups) and follow the configuration steps to set up the suppression. - Users can remove the configured suppressions by setting the suppression time period to **Never** within the workflow configuration. ![Alarm Suppression in OpManager: Workflow](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/images/alarm-suppression-3.png) ### Device downtime schedules #### Configuration: - Navigate to **Settings → Configuration → Device Downtime Schedules**. - Select **Suppress Alarm**, set the frequency, and use the filter to select the required categories, devices, groups, URLs, and monitors. - Click **Save**. - Go to the **Device Downtime Schedules** page and click the delete icon to remove the alarm suppression. ![Alarm Suppression in OpManager: Device downtime schedules](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/images/alarm-suppression-20.png) **Note:** - Alarms suppressed via Device Downtime Schedules will not be listed in the Alarm Suppression window. These suppressed alarms can only be viewed on the Device Downtime Scheduler List page. ### Discovery Rule Engine Users can now configure alarm suppression for devices and monitors through [Discovery Rule Engine](https://www.manageengine.com/network-monitoring/help/configuring-discovery-rule-engine.html). **NOTE :** A new Alarm Suppression page is now available at Settings → Configuration → Alarm Suppression. This page allows Full Access Admin Users to view all configured suppressions. ### Supported monitors list for Alarm Suppression Given below are the list of monitors for which Alarm suppression is supported: - Performance Monitors - URL Monitors - Service Monitors - Process Monitors - MSSQL Service Monitors - AD Service Monitors - Exchange Service Monitors - MSSQL Monitors - AD Monitors - Exchange Monitors - Windows Service Monitors - File Monitors - Folder Monitors - EventLog Monitors - Script Monitors - Syslog - SNMP Traps
