How to download and deploy Windows 10 version 1903 updates?
Download and deploy the Windows 10, version 1903 (May 2019) feature pack to managed endpoints using Patch Manager Plus, Patch Manager Plus, or Patch Manager Plus by uploading the required ISO and deploying it as a feature pack patch.
1.Pre-requisites
- Before deployment, run through the Compatibility Check available under the Important Notes section to find if you meet all the minimum requirements that impact upgradeability.
- Ensure that the feature pack option is enabled under Patch Database Settings.
- In Patch Manager Plus: Patch Mgmt → Settings → Patch Database Settings → Windows tab → enable the Feature Pack option.
- In Patch Manager Plus: Admin → Settings → Patch Database Settings → Windows tab → enable the Feature Pack option.
- Ensure that you have not declined the feature pack updates under the Decline Patches section.
- Microsoft recommends upgrading to the latest version, Windows 10 1909. You can upgrade directly to Windows 10, version 1909 from your existing version of Windows 10 — you do not need to deploy any versions in between.
2.Download and add the dependency patch (ISO file) to the patch store
Follow the steps below to download the ISO image:
- Download the Windows 10 1903 ISO file from the Volume Licensing Service Center.
- If you're using PMP Build Version 10.1.2228.6 and above:
- You'll find an option to upload near the Download failed error message. Use Upload to install this patch.
- Otherwise, navigate to Patches → Downloaded Patches and search for the required patches. Once found, upload the patches via Upload Patches and click Install Patch.
- If you're using DC Build Version 10.1.2228.6 and above:
- You'll find an option to upload near the Download failed error message. Use Upload to install this patch.
- Otherwise, navigate to Patch Mgmt → Patches → Downloaded Patches and search for the required patches. Once found, upload the patches via Upload Patches and click Install Patch.
If you're using PMP Build Version below 10.1.2228.6 and DC Build Version below 10.1.2228.6:
- Download the Windows 10 1903 ISO file from the Volume Licensing Service Center.
- Navigate to the patch store location in Endpoint Central: Patch Management → Downloaded Patches → Settings → Patch Repository Location.
- In Patch Manager Plus: Patches → Downloaded Patches → Settings → Patch Repository Location.
- In Vulnerability Manager Plus: Patches → Downloaded Patches → Settings → Patch Repository Location.
- Copy the downloaded ISO file manually into the patch store directory and rename it:
Language-English:- 32 Bit: 106988-Win10_1903_en_enterprisex32.iso
- 64 Bit: 106984-Win10_1903_en_enterprisex64.iso
NoteThe above naming convention is applicable only for the Windows 10 1903 Enterprise edition.
Endpoint Central, Patch Manager Plus, and Vulnerability Manager Plus support the deployment of feature packs for multiple languages.
For Endpoint Central build version 10.0.319 and above
- The ISO file download is automated in Endpoint Central build version 10.0.319 and above (except for the Windows 10 1903 Enterprise edition). Follow the steps here to enable the automatic download of the ISO image.
- After enabling, proceed directly to the feature pack deployment step.
For Endpoint Central build version below 10.0.319
- Download the Windows 10 1903 ISO file from the Volume Licensing Service Center or from here.
- Navigate to the patch store location: Admin → Patch Settings → Clean Up Settings → Patch Repository Location.
- Copy the downloaded ISO file manually into the patch store directory and rename it:
Language - English- 32 Bit: 106986-Win10_1903_enx32.iso
- 64 Bit: 106982-Win10_1903_enx64.iso

3.Deploy the Feature Pack
- In the server web console, navigate to the Missing Patches view.
- Choose the Windows 10 1903 feature pack patches you wish to deploy.
Patch ID details:
- 106989 - Windows 10 1903 Enterprise Edition - 32 Bit
- 106985 - Windows 10 1903 Enterprise Edition - 64 Bit
- 106987 - Other Windows 10 1903 Editions - 32 Bit
- 106983 - Other Windows 10 1903 Editions - 64 Bit
- Click Install Patch to deploy them.
- To create an APD task for deploying feature packs, make sure to select the feature pack check box while defining the patch task.
- Once the dependency patch is downloaded and stored in the Patch Store, "Feature Packs" will be successfully deployed to the target computers during the subsequent deployment window. A separate configuration can be created for the particular patch on demand.
