Overview
This page provides troubleshooting guidance for common issues encountered while configuring or managing Failover Cluster in ManageEngine Log360. Learn how to resolve problems such as Virtual IP binding errors, access mode configuration failures, module failover issues, inactive processors, missing logs, and health check errors.
Common issues and solutions
1. The Virtual IP/Hostname is not binding to the secondary server. Why?
- Run the product with Administrator privileges.
- Ensure that no other service is already bound to the Virtual IP.
- Verify that firewall or antivirus software is not blocking the Virtual IP binding.
- If servers are on different subnets, make sure the different subnet option was selected during configuration.
2. The Failover Cluster shows Common Access Mode has not been configured. What should I do?
- Refer to this section to configure access mode and choose one of the following:
- Virtual IP/Hostname (Active-Passive): Enter the Virtual IP.
- Access Gateway Cluster (Active-Active): Ensure an Access Gateway Cluster is already configured.
- Save the configuration and verify the status again.
3. My module, such as Archive or Correlation Engine, does not failover. Why?
- Failover is supported only if the role is assigned to two or more Log Processors.
- Check Log Processors → Associated Roles to confirm the role is assigned to multiple processors.
- Ensure the role status toggle is enabled on all assigned processors.
4. The web console is not reachable after failover. What could be wrong?
- Confirm that the Virtual Hostname or IP resolves correctly to the active node.
- If using HTTPS, ensure SSL certificates are valid and enabled on all nodes.
- Verify that the Access URL port (Load Balancer port) is not blocked by firewall rules.
5. Failover shows processors as Inactive even though they are running. Why?
- The secondary Log Processor may not be reachable on the cluster port (default: 7800).
- Check for network or firewall restrictions preventing cluster communication.
- Ensure the product version on all nodes matches the primary server.
6. After enabling failover, some logs are missing during switchover. Why?
- Confirm that module-based failover is enabled for critical roles (Processing Engine, Archive, Forwarding).
- Without redundancy, log loss may occur during failover.
- Verify that shared storage is configured for archive and Elasticsearch data.
7. Failover health check shows errors. How do I fix them?
- On the Failover page, click More Details for the affected role.
- If no active processors are listed:
- Restart the Log Processor service on secondary nodes.
- Check database connectivity and cluster port communication.
- If processors are active but showing errors:
- Review the product logs for specific module failures.
