How to Set Up and Deploy WireGuard VPN on Android Devices Using MDM?

When WireGuard integrated with MDM, WireGuard can be deployed and managed centrally, ensuring that all corporate and BYOD devices adhere to organizational security policies. Admins can push WireGuard configurations to devices, simplifying VPN setup for end users and ensuring consistent access control.

Step 1: Deploy WireGuard VPN From Managed Google Play

1. Publish the WireGuard VPN App:
   • On MDM console, navigate to Device Mgmt->AppRepository-> Managed Google Play.
   • Search for WireGuard VPN Connect (Package ID: net.openvpn.openvpn).
   • Approve and publish the app.
   • Distribute the WireGuard VPN Connect App to the relevant device groups with silent installation for seamless deployment.
2. Upload the VPN Configuration:
   • Prepare an .conf file containing:
     • Server address/Cloud ID
     • Username & password
     • Profile name (VPN configuration details)
   • Create an Announcement on .conf file, as a downloadable URL with details.
   • Download the .conf file from the Announcement downloadable url.

Step 2: Configure WireGuard VPN on the Device

Launch WireGuard VPN application. tap the + button. Tap Import from file or archive. Select the WireGuard configuration (.conf) file you download from the Me MDM Announcement and then tap OK to confirm the connection request.
