How is the network quality report calculated?

A network quality report gives you information on the overall quality of your network, i.e fault monitoring and performance management. It helps you drill down to the root cause of the issue with no hassle.

The fields available in the report are

  • DisplayName - Device display name
  • Availability (%) - The availability percentage of the device
  • Utilization (%) - The average utilization of all interfaces of the respective device
  • Response Time (ms) - Response time of the device
  • Status - Network link status of the given device (based on quality)
  • Quality - The quality of the network link of the device.

Network quality calculation:

If the average response time is between 0 and 2000, and the Average Utilization is between 0 and 100, then the Network link quality is calculated as,
Quality = 1* 1* Availability of the device (in %).

Quality of a device is calculated in 5 states namely Poor, Fair, Good, Very Good and Excellent.

If quality is >= 0 and <= 0.6099, the status is "POOR"
If quality is >= 0.6100 and <= 0.8099, the status is "FAIR".
If quality is >= 0.8100 and <= 0.9099, the status is "GOOD".
If quality is >= 0.9100 and <= 0.9599, the status is "VERYGOOD".
If quality is >= 0.9599, the status is "EXCELLENT".
