Windows 10 Feature Pack Deployment - Windows 10 version 21H2 November 2021 update
Deploy the Windows 10, version 21H2 (November 2021) feature pack to cloud-managed endpoints using Patch Manager Plus by uploading the required ISO to the Distribution Server and deploying it as a feature pack patch.
Steps to deploy Windows 10 feature packs
1.Prerequisites
- Before deployment, run through the Compatibility Check available under the Important Notes section to find if you meet all the minimum requirements that impact upgradability.
- Ensure that the feature pack option is enabled under Patch Database Settings.
- Navigate to: Admin → Settings → Patch Database Settings → click on the Windows tab and enable the Feature Pack option.
- Ensure that you have not declined the feature pack updates under the Decline Patches section.
- Microsoft recommends upgrading to the latest version of Windows 10. You can upgrade directly to Windows 10, version 21H2 from your existing version — you do not need to deploy any versions in between.
2.Downloading the dependency patch (ISO file) and adding/uploading
Follow the steps below to download the ISO image.
- Method 1:
- Download the Windows 10 21H2 ISO file from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or by referring to this page.
- Navigate to the distribution store in the Distribution Server. To find the distribution store location: <DS_INSTALL_DIR> → Replication → Store.
- Copy the downloaded ISO file manually into the distribution store directory and rename it:
Language-English:- 32 Bit: 109107-Win10_21H2_en_enterprisex32.iso
- 64 Bit: 109103-Win10_21H2_en_enterprisex64.iso
NoteThe above naming convention is applicable only for the Windows 10 Enterprise edition.Patch Manager Plus supports the deployment of feature packs for multiple languages. Click here to view the ISO setup file for the language of your choice.
NoteTo deploy Win 10 feature packs in more than one language, check the respective ISO files for each language, download and place them in the distribution store.
- Method 2:
- Download the Windows 10 21H2 ISO file from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or by referring to this page.
- Click on Upload near the Download failed error message.
- In the pop-up window, browse and select the file to upload.
- Choose between the Checksum types (MD5 and SHA256).

Windows 10 21H2 patch upload - Enter the checksum and wait for it to be validated.
- Once validated, click on Upload.
- Once the patch has been uploaded, it can be installed.

- Method 2:
- Download the Windows 10 21H2 ISO file from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or by referring to this page.

Roaming users using Windows 10 Professional Edition can upgrade to this feature pack without following any of the steps below. Simply use Patch ID: 109100 to deploy this feature pack to roaming users.
For agents under the Distribution Server:
- Method 1:
- Download the Windows 10 21H2 ISO file from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or by referring to this page.
- Navigate to the distribution store in the Distribution Server. To find the distribution store location: <DS_INSTALL_DIR> → Replication → Store.
- Copy the downloaded ISO file manually into the distribution store directory and rename it:
Language - English- 32 Bit: 109105-Win10_21H2_enx32.iso
- 64 Bit: 109101-Win10_21H2_enx64.iso

- Method 2:
- Download the Windows 10 21H2 ISO file from the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or by referring to this page.
- Click on Upload near the Download failed error message.

3.Deploy the Feature Pack
For users below Windows 10, version 2004,
- In the server web console, navigate to the Missing Patches view.
- Choose the Windows 10 feature pack patches you wish to deploy.
Patch ID details:
- 109108 - Windows 10 21H2 Enterprise Edition - 32 Bit
- 109104 - Windows 10 21H2 Enterprise Edition - 64 Bit
- 109106 - Other Windows 10 21H2 Editions - 32 Bit
- 109102 - Other Windows 10 21H2 Editions - 64 Bit
- Click Install Patch to deploy them.
For users with Windows 10, version 2004 and above,
- In the server web console, navigate to Patches > Missing Patches.
- You can filter based on Patch Type - equal - Feature Packs.
- Choose the feature updates you wish to deploy.
- Click Install Patches to deploy them.

Enablement Package patch ID details:
- To create an APD task for deploying feature packs, make sure to select the feature pack check box while defining the patch task.
- Once the dependency patch is downloaded and stored in the Distribution Store, "Feature Packs" will be successfully deployed to the target computers during the subsequent deployment window. A separate configuration can be created for the particular patch on demand.
