# Windows 10 Feature Pack Deployment - Windows 10 version 21H2 November 2021 update

Deploy the Windows 10, version 21H2 (November 2021) feature pack to cloud-managed endpoints using Patch Manager Plus by uploading the required ISO to the Distribution Server and deploying it as a feature pack patch.

> **Note**  
> For users with **Windows 10, version 2004 and above**, it is only required to deploy the Enablement Package patches to upgrade to Windows 10, version 21H2.

## Steps to deploy Windows 10 feature packs

## 1. Prerequisites

### Prerequisites

1. Before deployment, run through the [Compatibility Check](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-10-specifications?howto) available under the **Important Notes** section to find if you meet all the minimum requirements that impact upgradability.
2. Ensure that the feature pack option is enabled under Patch Database Settings.
3. Navigate to: **Admin → Settings → Patch Database Settings →** click on the **Windows tab** and enable the **Feature Pack option**.
4. Ensure that you have not declined the feature pack updates under the Decline Patches section.
5. Microsoft recommends upgrading to the latest version of Windows 10. You can upgrade directly to Windows 10, version 21H2 from your existing version — you do not need to deploy any versions in between.

## 2. Downloading the dependency patch (ISO file) and adding/uploading

### Windows 10 21H2 Enterprise Edition

Follow the steps below to download the ISO image.

- **Method 1:**
  1. Download the Windows 10 21H2 ISO file from the [Microsoft 365 Admin Center](https://admin.microsoft.com/adminportal/home#/subscriptions/vlnew) or by referring to [this page](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/vlsc-faqs-home-page#where-do-i-see-volume-licensing-experiences-in-microsoft-365-admin-center-__).
  2. Navigate to the distribution store in the Distribution Server. To find the distribution store location: **<DS_INSTALL_DIR> → Replication → Store**.
  3. Copy the downloaded ISO file manually into the distribution store directory and rename it:

     **Language-English:**
     - 32 Bit: 109107-Win10_21H2_en_enterprisex32.iso
     - 64 Bit: 109103-Win10_21H2_en_enterprisex64.iso

     > **Note**  
     > The above naming convention is applicable only for the Windows 10 Enterprise edition.

     Patch Manager Plus supports the deployment of feature packs for multiple languages. Click [here](https://www.manageengine.com/patch-management/#language) to view the ISO setup file for the language of your choice.

     > **Note**  
     > To deploy Win 10 feature packs in more than one language, check the respective ISO files for each language, download and place them in the distribution store.

- **Method 2:**
  1. Download the Windows 10 21H2 ISO file from the [Microsoft 365 Admin Center](https://admin.microsoft.com/adminportal/home#/subscriptions/vlnew) or by referring to [this page](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/vlsc-faqs-home-page#where-do-i-see-volume-licensing-experiences-in-microsoft-365-admin-center-__).
  2. Click on **Upload** near the *Download failed* error message.
  3. In the pop-up window, browse and select the file to upload.
  4. Choose between the **Checksum** types (MD5 and SHA256).

  5. Enter the checksum and wait for it to be validated.
  6. Once validated, click on **Upload**.
  7. Once the patch has been uploaded, it can be installed.

### Windows 10 21H2 Professional Edition

Follow the steps below to download the ISO image.

- **Method 1:**
  1. Download the Windows 10 21H2 ISO file from the [Microsoft 365 Admin Center](https://admin.microsoft.com/adminportal/home#/subscriptions/vlnew) or by referring to [this page](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/vlsc-faqs-home-page#where-do-i-see-volume-licensing-experiences-in-microsoft-365-admin-center-__).
  2. Navigate to the distribution store in the Distribution Server. To find the distribution store location: **<DS_INSTALL_DIR> → Replication → Store**.
  3. Copy the downloaded ISO file manually into the distribution store directory and rename it:

     **Language-English:**
     - 32 bit: 109105-Win10_21H2_enx32.iso
     - 64 bit: 109101-Win10_21H2_enx64.iso

     > **Note**  
     > The above naming convention is applicable for all Windows 10 editions except the Enterprise edition.

  2. Click on **Upload** near the *Download failed* error message.
  3. In the pop-up window, browse and select the file to upload.
  4. Choose between the **Checksum** types (MD5 and SHA256).

### Other Windows 10 Editions

**Roaming users** using **Windows 10 Professional Edition** can upgrade to this feature pack without following any of the steps below. Simply use **Patch ID: 109100** to deploy this feature pack to roaming users.

> **Note**  
> This feature pack deployment is not supported for roaming users on the Windows 10 Enterprise edition.

**For agents under the Distribution Server:**

- **Method 1:**
  1. Download the Windows 10 21H2 ISO file from the [Microsoft 365 Admin Center](https://admin.microsoft.com/adminportal/home#/subscriptions/vlnew) or by referring to [this page](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/licensing/vlsc-faqs-home-page#where-do-i-see-volume-licensing-experiences-in-microsoft-365-admin-center-__).
  2. Navigate to the distribution store in the Distribution Server. To find the distribution store location: **<DS_INSTALL_DIR> → Replication → Store**.
  3. Copy the downloaded ISO file manually into the distribution store directory and rename it:

     **Language - English**
     - 32 Bit: 109105-Win10_21H2_enx32.iso
     - 64 Bit: 109101-Win10_21H2_enx64.iso

     > The above naming convention is applicable for all Windows 10 21H2 editions except the Enterprise edition.

- **Method 2:**
  1.   2. Click on **Upload** near the *Download failed* error message.
  3. In the pop-up window, browse and select the file to upload.

## 3. Deploy the Feature Pack

### Manual deployment

**For users below Windows 10, version 2004,**

1. In the server web console, navigate to the **Missing Patches** view.
2. Choose the Windows 10 feature pack patches you wish to deploy.

**Patch ID details:**

- 109108 - Windows 10 21H2 Enterprise Edition - 32 Bit
- 109104 - Windows 10 21H2 Enterprise Edition - 64 Bit
- 109106 - Other Windows 10 21H2 Editions - 32 Bit
- 109102 - Other Windows 10 21H2 Editions - 64 Bit

> **Note**  
> For customers on Windows 10, version 2004/20H2/21H1, deploy 109113 (Feature Update via Enablement Package, x86) or 109112 (Feature Update via Enablement Package, x64) instead.

- Click **Install Patch** to deploy them.

**For users with Windows 10, version 2004 and above,**

1. In the server web console, navigate to **Patches** > **Missing Patches**.
2. You can filter based on **Patch Type** - **equal** - **Feature Packs**.
3. Choose the feature updates you wish to deploy.
4. Click **Install Patches** to deploy them.

### Automated Deployment

1. To create an APD task for deploying feature packs, make sure to **select the feature pack check box while defining the patch task**.
2. Once the dependency patch is downloaded and stored in the Distribution Store, "Feature Packs" will be successfully deployed to the target computers during the subsequent deployment window. A separate configuration can be created for the particular patch on demand.
