How to troubleshoot metadata and patch download failure?

Description

The meta files and patches are downloaded directly from the vendor site for cloud/direct download users. For instance, the Red Hat machine will download all the required meta files and patches from the vendor site (cdn.redhat.com) and not from servers. You cannot proceed with scan/deployment if the vendor site is not reachable. You can see the error message Unable to establish connection. Verify the agent's Internet availability and proxy settings during a scan or deployment process.

Steps

The following steps will help in resolution:

  • Check if the Linux system has an active Internet connection without any firewall/proxy restrictions.
  • Provide access to the vendor's repository from the Linux system by configuring proxy settings.
  • Ensure your proxy allows you to download .debs, .rpms, .xmls and .gz files.
  • The vendor repository site might be temporarily down. If you are having trouble accessing the site, either wait or try with other browsers. If the issue still persists, contact the respective vendors.
