User-based application patching

Patch Manager Plus has started supporting user-based apps for patching, and the following user-based apps are now supported and released:

  • Zoom
  • Postman

Patch Deployment Guidelines:

  • The patches can be scanned and deployed in the usual way from the missing patches view.
  • Patches will be deployed only to the required users (users having the app installed and version less than the patch being deployed) on the affected machines.
  • Patch deployment will be carried out only when the users are logged in and only for the logged-in users.
  • Patches will be shown as missing until all the users have deployed the latest supported version.
  • Patches will be shown missing even if one of the users in a machine requires patching.
  • Patches will be moved to installed only after all the users have the latest supported version.

The following remarks and reasons provide additional insights and explanations:

Remark 1:

"Update is not required for any of the users"

Reason:

Patch detected as missing in the patch scan, but unable to get the user details at the time of installation

Note: If this problem occurs, kindly provide the agent logs to support for assistance.

Remark 2:

"Patch installation cannot proceed with the user(s) logged out"

Reason:

User-based application requires the applicable user to be logged in to apply the patches.
