Event ID 858 – Windows Firewall group policy settings have been applied.

When the group policy of Windows Firewall is changed (either locally or through Active Directory Group Policy) or the local Group Policy is refreshed, event 858 is logged. The log simply says that the settings have been applied; it doesn't indicate whether it was triggered by a change or because of a refresh.

Why does event ID 858 need to be monitored?

All changes with regards to Windows Firewall need to be monitored since unplanned or unauthorized changes need immediate investigation. It could be a sign of malicious activity.
