Easy Web Based Access ADManager Plus is a easy web based Software and can be accessed from anywhere in the network (LAN) by using a web browser. Tools4Ever User Management Resource Administrator (UMRA) is not web based and requires the Administrator / Delegated Help desk technician to be physically present to access the software to perform Management Tasks.
Management Actions
  • Both ADManager Plus and Tools4Ever help to perform management tasks to a great extent and help eliminate the need for scripting knowledge or use of error prone command line tools. Management actions are comprehensive and include Users, Groups, and Computers, objects, Exchange and More.
  • UMRA assists in performing management actions by assisting the administrators to design a mass project by grouping all the available scripts under the mass program and are saved. Bulk user creation, modification etc., are performed selecting the type of actions the administrator wishes to perform. Management actions are also performed using Search and Replace functions in the software.
  • Administrator creates templates based on requirement and imports a CSV file into the template to perform bulk user creation. To perform bulk modification actions the list of users are extracted in the form of reports and a wizard based process helps to perform management tasks. ADManager Plus also supports bulk modification using CSV files and templates.
  • Both ADManager Plus and UMRA help generate comprehensive list of reports on all active directory infrastructure resources.
  • Reports generated with UMRA can only be exported to MS Access or a SQLServer and mandates installation of such prerequisites. Reports generated with ADManager Plus can be exported to any desired format like csv, csvde, xls, pdf, html and does not require any additional installations.
  • More than 100 Pre-canned reports are available with ADManager Plus and are well grouped under specific sections. Like Users, Groups, Computers, Printers, OUs, GPOs, Exchange, No such facility or grouping is present with UMRA console, desired reports are obtained by ordering scripts to preference.
  • Scheduling of Reports and emailing them is possible with ADManager Plus. Scheduling is possible but Emailing them to administrator not aware.
Delegation of Tasks to help desk technicians
  • Both ADManager Plus and UMRA permit delegation tasks to help desk technicians and also specific to organizational units.
  • The delegation of task is very simple with ADManager Plus where the administrator has to create roles by selecting one or more tasks from a list and assign them to a helpdesk. UMRA requires the administrator to develop an UMRA table to delegate tasks to help desks.
  • A helpdesk technician can access the software to perform management tasks from anywhere in the domain using the web based ADManager Plus , however UMRA requires installation to be made on a separate machine and restricts him to perform tasks from the installed Machine alone.

Self Service Portal ManageEngine ADManager Plus includes a web based self service portal in its professional edition. The self service portal allows any domain user to login into the web portal and self update his own personal information in the Active Directory. Tools4Ever(UMRA) does not provide such facilities to end users.
Installation ADManager Plus requires only a single installation being web based and can be accessed from anywhere in the domain. Tools4Ever UMRA is not web based and hence requires multiple installations. UMRA requires separate installations for the Administrator and HelpDesks.
Licensing ADManager Plus is licensed based on the number of domains and the number of help desk technicians who are to use the software. Tools4Ever UMRA is licensed based on the number of user objects that are managed using the software.
Clients ManageEngine ADManager Plus requires no clients to be installed. The administrator, help desk technicians or end users require only a web browser like Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.
