Modify Contacts in Active Directory Using CSV

    When you want modify the attributes of bulk contacts, the easiest approach is to import a CSV file containing the necessary attributes to be modified.

    Procedure:

    First, create CSV file which contains the new values of the attributes of contacts that need to replace the existing values. Then, import this CSV file and click on Apply. This will replace the existing values of the attributes of contacts.

    Steps:

    • Click AD Mgmt → Contact Management → Modify Contacts
    • Import the CSV file which contains the values for the attributes of contacts that need to be modified. Click the change headers button button if you wish to change the headers of the fields imported via the CSV file, and choose another relevant attribute as the header.
    • Click "Update in AD" button. Now, in the dialog box, select the attributes of the contacts that need to be modified. Then, click the show button and select the LDAP attributes based on which the desired contact objects in AD must be located.
    • Click the Advanced Options link and specify whether you wish to append or overwrite the values for multi-valued attributes, and clear current values or leave them untouched if the CSV file does not contain any value for an attribute.
    • Click OK to save the changes.

    The Contacts' attributes will now hold the values as mentioned in the CSV file that was imported.

    Sample CSV File:

    distinguishedName,description,co,department,telephoneNumber,targetAddress,msExchAdminGroup,mailNickname

    "CN=jamessmith,OU=Finance,DC=admp,DC=com",Modify Contact Description,ABC and CO,Pantry,876-123-5673,"smtp:jamessmith@yahoo.com","/o=First Organization/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)",jamessmith
