Viewing GPO, GPO Link Details and Status

    Using ADManager Plus 'GPO Management', it becomes quite simple for the administrators to know all the required details, status of all the require GPOs, in just an instant.

    View all available GPOs in a Domain

    The first step in managing GPOs is to know the list of all available GPOs in the domain. ADManager Plus provides this information, instantly.

    Procedure:
    In the 'GPO Management' section, click on the 'Group Policy Objects' container in the required domain to view the list of all available GPOs in that domain.


    Steps:

    To view all the GPOs available in a domain

    • Click the 'AD Mgmt' tab.
    • In 'GPO Management', click the 'GPO Management' link.
    • In the 'Group Policy Management' pane on the left hand side, click on 'All Domains' to expand the link and view all the configured domains.
    • Click on the '+' icon beside the required domain. This will list all the containers in the domain.
    • Click on 'Group Policy Objects' container to view all the available GPOs in this particular domain.
    • Using the 'Enable' and 'Disable' options located just above the list of GPOs, you can enable/disable the required GPOs completely or partially (user/computer configuration settings).
    Note:

    If you click on the 'domain' instead of the '+' icon beside the domain name, you will be able to view only those GPOs that are linked to this domain instead of all the available GPOs of this domain.

    View all the GPOs linked to a specific Domain/OU/Site

    Administrators can instantly view the list of all the GPOs that are linked to any specific Domain/OU/Site using this option.

    Procedure:

    In the 'GPO Management' section, click on the required domain all the GPOs that are linked to that domain.

    Steps:

    To view all the GPOs linked to any specific container,

    • Click the 'AD Mgmt' tab.
    • In 'GPO Management' section click on the 'GPO Management' link.
    • In the 'Group Policy Management' pane on the left hand side, click on 'All Domains' to expand the link and view all the configured domains.
    • Click on the required Domain/OU. This will display all the GPOs that are linked to that specific container.
    • To select a site, click on 'All Sites' and then the forest in which the required site is located. Then, click on the required site to view all the GPOs linked to this site.
    • You can manage the links of all GPOs linked to this container through the 'Manage' and 'Enforce' options located just above the list of linked GPOs.
    • To link a GPO to this container,
      • Click on the 'Link GPOs' option located in the top right corner of this page.
      • In the 'Select GPOs to be linked' window that opens up, select the domain in which the required GPO is located.
      • This will list all the GPOs in the domain. You can also locate the GPO using the search option.
      • Select the required GPOs and click on 'Link GPOs'.
      • You will see a summary of the action just performed along with the linking status, for each GPO.

    View all the Domains/OUs/Sites that a GPO is linked to

    This option enables the administrators to know in detail, all the containers that any specific GPO is linked to.

    Procedure:

    In the 'GPO Management' section, in the 'Group Policy Objects' container, click on the required GPO to view the list of all the containers to which this GPO is linked to, along with the link status.

    Steps:

    To view all the Domains/OUs/Sites to which a GPO is linked,

    • Click the 'AD Mgmt' tab.
    • In 'GPO Management' section click on the 'GPO Management' link.
    • In the 'Group Policy Management' pane on the left hand side, click on 'All Domains' to expand the link and view all the configured domains.
    • Click on the domain in which the required GPO is located.
    • Click on 'Group Policy Objects' container to view all the GPOs available in the domain. For each GPO, you will also be able to see the status of the 'user configuration settings' and also the 'computer configuration settings'.
    • From the list of all available GPOs, click on the required GPO. This will list all the containers to which this GPO is linked along with the link status, enforce status and the canonical name of the linked location.
    • From this page, you can manage the links of this particular GPO through the 'Manage' and 'Enforce' options located just above the list of linked containers.
    • You can also view the status of this particular GPO, in the 'GPO Status' located in top right corner of this page. Using the change option located beside it, you can also change the GPO status, as required.
    Note:

    To view the links from all the sites, in the 'display links from' option located just above the list of linked containers; select 'All Sites' from the options.
