## Microsoft Azure NAT Gateway - An Overview

Azure NAT Gateway is a fully managed, highly resilient network address translation service that provides outbound internet connectivity for virtual network resources. Applications Manager's [Azure NAT Gateway monitoring](https://www.manageengine.com/products/applications_manager/azure-nat-gateway-monitoring.html) tracks datapath availability, SNAT connections, data and packet transfer, and packet drop rates to help you monitor outbound connectivity and identify potential network issues.

## Monitored Parameters

Navigate to the **Category View** by clicking the **Monitors** tab. Hover over 'Child Monitors' under **Microsoft Azure** in the Cloud Apps table, and then select the **NAT Gateways** monitor from the displayed tooltip. This action will display the bulk configuration view for Microsoft Azure NAT Gateway in three tabs:

- **Availability** tab gives the availability history for the past 24 hours or 30 days.
- **Performance** tab gives the health status and events for the past 24 hours or 30 days.
- **List view** tab enables you to perform [bulk admin configurations](https://www.manageengine.com/products/applications_manager/help/bulk-config.html).

### Performance Overview

| Datapath Availability | The average datapath availability for the Azure NAT Gateway between the poll intervals (in %). |
| **ACTIVE CONNECTIONS** |  |
| SNAT Connections | The total number of concurrent active SNAT connections for the Azure NAT Gateway between the poll intervals. |
| Total SNAT Connections | The total number of active SNAT connections for the Azure NAT Gateway between the poll intervals. |
| **DATA TRANSFERRED** |  |
| Data Transferred Rate | The total amount of data transmitted per minute for the Azure NAT Gateway between the poll intervals (in MB/min). |
| Data Transferred | The total amount of data transmitted by the Azure NAT Gateway between the poll intervals (in MB). |
| **PACKETS TRANSMITTED** |  |
| Packet Transferred Rate | The total number of packets transmitted per minute for the Azure NAT Gateway between the poll intervals (in packets/min). |
| Packets Transmitted | The total number of packets transmitted by the Azure NAT Gateway between the poll intervals. |
| **DROPPED PACKETS** |  |
| Dropped Packet Rate | The total number of dropped packets per minute for the Azure NAT Gateway between the poll intervals (in packets/min). |

| Resource Group Name | The name of the Azure resource group that contains the NAT Gateway. |
| Location | The Azure region where the NAT Gateway is deployed. |
| Provisioning State | The provisioning state of the NAT Gateway resource. |
| SKU Name | The name of the NAT Gateway SKU. Possible values: Standard, StandardV2. |
| SKU Tier | The pricing tier associated with the NAT Gateway SKU. |
| Idle Timeout | The TCP idle connection timeout (in minutes). |
| Resource GUID | A unique identifier for the NAT Gateway resource. |
