Configuration Management Database (CMDB)

 

 

Configuration Management Database (CMDB) is a repository that stores the details of all the significant entities of your help desk. These entities are termed as Configuration Items (CIs), involving all hardware and its corresponding components, networking assets, software including operating systems, documentation - licenses, agreements, contracts and much more. Apart from storing the details of the CIs, the CMDB also holds the relationship between the different entities, thereby serving as a decision tool for IT.

 

The CMDB module is accessed by the administrator and technician with CMDB role. If you are the administrator or technician with CMDB role permission, then before you go ahead configuring the CIs and their relationships, you need to configure,

• Configuration Item Types (CI Types) - Categorize your CIs under specific CI Types.

• Relationship Type - Configure the nature of relationship set between the different CIs.

• Import CIs from CSV - Import all your organizational CIs instantly from a CSV file.
