# Endpoint Central Server / Agent (or) Distribution Server / Installation/Remote Control Failure - Service Timeout Issue

## Problem

You are trying to install a Endpoint Central Agent / start Endpoint Central service after installation / taking Remote Control of a remote machine / installing Distribution Server, but you get a message:

"The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion".

## Cause

You will see this message if there is a timeout issue while the service starts.

## Resolution

You will need to address the service timeout issue first before proceeding any further with Endpoint Central Service / Agent installation / Distribution Server Installation / Remote Control. Refer to the following Microsoft KBs to learn more about this error and also resolve the same.
